Passing school choice does NOT mean Texas won't fully fund public education. School choice funding and public school funding come from separate pots. We won't take a single penny from our public schools to pay for school choice.

Are you even kidding right now! The house has done Jack Shit all session so far. Wait, never mind, they did designate the Tomahawk Ribeye as the official steak of Texas. That's what they've passed! How about you and @KenPaxtonTX call the speaker of the house on deck and deal with his ass. You're allowing democRATS to control our state and appear to be doing nothing about it!

Both pots come from property taxes - separating them into different bank accounts doesn’t mean anything.

@grok How many Texas school districts have had to reduce budgets due to reduced state funding?

George Bush candidates need to go. Being complacent about paying Hollywood 500 million dollars, no property tax relief, and extra care for Islamic cities and developments for illegals is not what Texas wants.

Hey Greg if it's such a great idea put it to the informed voters of the state let us do our due diligence figure out where the money is coming from perhaps do our own surveys with more than 3000 or so people in them. This is our money we should vote

Nobody is concerned about that except for the left, Texans do not support another handout to privileged individuals at the expense of taxpayers, if they want private education they should pay for it. We demand the end of property taxes, and that's what you should be focused on.

Texans, did you know school voucher costs could top $10B by 2030—and that’s a low estimate? Also, a proposal to let voters decide just failed in the House, pretty much controlled by Abbott. This is tyranny

Youre using OUR tax dollars to fund poor people and illegals. Youre chasing all the good hard working AMERICAN Texans out of Texas. I'll be taking 11 Republican voters with me when my family and I go. What's wrong with you

Where is the money coming from? Schools have seen reductions every year since 2021. End property taxes.

Schools are funded by daily attendance/enrollment. If enrollment goes down, less funds will be sent to schools.

Great... So instead of public schools having to pay a price for failing to educate kids properly they will continue to receive full funding. Then we are paying even more for school choice on top of it. Strip failing schools of funding now!

I have NEVER heard a parent ask for government (taxpayers) to pay for their choice to send their children to private schools. We struggled and all pitched in to get them out of public schools but that was our choice. A tax break would have been the RIGHT thing for private and homeschool families - and government should adequately fund public schools to get them up to par. This ESA / voucher mess is pathetic and serves only to stroke your ego and that of Jeff Yass.

What pot is school choice coming from? The 30 billion surplus that is supposed to end property tax? Or the pot you have all pissed away, and that's why Texas is 500 billion in debt! Help me to understand the fiscal responsibility, because the math isn't mathing!

That is NOT how the bill is written. It clearly says. "Sec. 29.353. Program Fund. The program fund is an account in the GENERAL revenue fund to be administered by the Comptroller. The Fund is composed of: General Revenue Transferred to the fund Money APPROPRIATED to the fund Gifts, Grants and donations recieved under Section 29. 370 AND any other money available for purposes of the program." The way this is all worded in the bill says that that the money can be APPROPRIATED for the fund from wherever you want it to be from...So public schools, Health and Human Services who knows where it will come from. I don't know if your trully wanting this to have WIDESpread PUBLIC support the worded should be changed that NO money is allowed to be taken from Public School Funds and that there should be a CAP on how much a Home makes to be allowed to apply People that make Millons shouldn't NEED help from a fund like this Do I believe they should be Locked out from getting it "NO" but I believe they should not be before people making less than them.
