Most people don't know that a) Pasteur was accused of plagiarism, stealing ideas from several earlier scientists, and b) his theory was opposed by many scientists, including Antoine Béchamp, a French researcher and biologist (who was also Pasteur's rival with the exact opposite view of germs). Contrary to the idea that bacteria would enter a healthy host and create diseases on their own, Béchamp proposed that living entities called "microzymes" create bacteria in response to host and environmental factors—this is known as the "host theory."

Pasteurization kills human pathogens. We did with our cow's milk with a home pasteurizer in the '70s.
