My opinion: ₦700,000 for matchmaking will naturally raise eyebrows, but the price alone doesn't make the idea wrong. Kingsley Okonkwo is essentially putting a premium price on a structured matchmaking and mentorship service. If subscribers are genuinely receiving serious screening, counselling, compatibility assessment, privacy and sustained mentorship, people who can afford the premium package may decide that it is worth paying for. However, marriage should not become a marketplace where people begin to believe that the more money they pay, the better their chances of finding a spouse. That can create unnecessary pressure, especially for young Christians already struggling financially. The free option is therefore important. It makes the initiative more inclusive and weakens the argument that the platform is simply “selling husbands and wives to the highest bidder.” But Pastor Kingsley should also be transparent about exactly what the ₦700,000 covers, how candidates are verified, what safeguards exist against scammers and fake profiles, and whether paying guarantees anything beyond access to the service. My bottom line: Paying for a professional matchmaking service isn't inherently ridiculous. But ₦700,000 should buy a clearly defined service not the promise of love, marriage or a “better” spouse.

What exactly is wrong with this?

There's a basic plan of 70k/ year (6k/ month) there. The news was designed for traction. Servers are not free. Developers get paid. Coaches will be paid. It's not for his church. It's for the interested. If you want better services, you upgrade the plan.
