An Open Letter to Governor Alex Otti Alex Otti Dear Sir, I just want to say thank you. Last Thursday, I traveled home to Arochukwu after work in Enugu just to spend the May 1 public holiday the next day. For many people, that might not sound like a big deal. But for those of us from Arochukwu, it is something we haven’t been able to do for years, making a short trip to Arochukwu just for leisure?? You must be an indaboski!!! Before now, traveling home was something we avoided, even during festive periods like Christmas. The road was simply too bad that those of us who dare travel will go from Umuahia to Akwaibom then to Arochukwu. It made journeys stressful, long, and sometimes even risky. Personally, it has been about four years since I last made a trip home. But this time was different. The road from Umuahia to Arochukwu is now smooth, dualized, and truly motorable. People now leave Umuahia by 7 pm and get to Arochukwu by 8 pm. That’s something we couldn’t have imagined not too long ago. People are traveling again. There’s movement, there’s ease, and there’s joy. And for that, I am deeply grateful. This is not just about a road. It is about reconnecting people to their homes, restoring a sense of normalcy, and giving us back something we had almost lost, the freedom to travel without fear or frustration. I am speaking for myself, but I know I am not alone. Many of us from Arochukwu see this, feel this, and appreciate it. We know where we are coming from. We understand that Abia State still has a long way to go after many years without real development. But these steps you are taking, even if they seem small to some, mean a lot to us. They give us hope. We believe you can do even more. We trust that you will continue to work towards rebuilding our state and positioning Abia where it truly belongs. [Announcement] Poll Winner + Teaser! Hey, everyone! I'm back with a little announcement. Alright, I'm putting this out here so everyone knows what's up and where we're heading next. So, for those who missed it, we held a patron only poll recently to decide which game we should work on next. Thought for today…. I would like to thank Alexander Isak for his behaviour and forcing to leave Newcastle. I would also like to thank Liverpool for the duplicitous way they unsettled him. Why FFS you may ask? Hear me out… 1. The bloke is not a team player as he showed last season with his performances at the start and end of last season and we only want fully committed players at our club. 2. At some point due to the corrupt PSR rules we were going to have to sell a big player to enable us to move to the next level. It might as well be one with the lack of character and morality that he has shown. 3. Isak and Liverpool have handed us a massive windfall that has the potential to transform the club over the next few seasons. Without this we would not be able to move forward as quickly and we would all be waiting for the axe to fall on another star player. That is less likely now. 4. We now, potentially,have the strongest squad in my living memory (with the possible exception of Keegan’s Entertainers but who knows they may surpass even them) 5. The new CEO and Sporting Director (both of whom are top class if reports are correct) will be walking into a club that is united from top to bottom and in a very strong financial position. A club that has qualified for the Champions League in two of the last 3 season and won its first domestic trophy in 70 years. A club that is clearly on the up. 6. PIF will hopefully have learned lessons from what happened this summer and even though it was a little late they acted in the last few weeks and made sure the end to they transfer window could be deemed a big success despite the circumstances (next up get the CEO and Sporting Director in and announce a new stadium) 7. Eddie Howe, Andy Howe, Jamie Reuben and Steve Nickson have cemented their reputations. In particular Eddie’s handling of the whole Isak affair has been a masterclass in diplomacy, hard work, and man management - we truly have an absolute gem and a gentleman leading the team. 8. In summary we have a club that is united from top to bottom, in a healthy financial position, a much stronger squad with players committed to the club, new top class senior personnel to be added very shortly, a second Champions League season to look forward to and hopefully more silverware. CORE MEMORIES A few months ago, we were simply waiting for everything to happen. And we are truly blessed that Dubai became their first out-of-the-country destination for promotion. When we received confirmation early last week that Dustin and Bianca would be part of the MMFF Concert, I was actually very sick—but that didn’t stop us. We immediately started planning, gathered all our members here in the UAE, and reached out to other silent fans because I was sure there were a lot of them out there. Donations started right away, knowing that we only had a few days to prepare. The most challenging part was this: our members were ready, the funds were ready, but we couldn’t finalize anything. Aside from the news that they were coming and the concert date, we had no other details. Still, that didn’t stop us. We anticipated that everything would be confirmed last minute, so we prepared Plan A, Plan B to D(😁). We created several proposals to seek approval from both management teams. From then on, it became a waiting game and everything depended on coordination. We initially thought we’d be given ample time with them, but when their schedule details came in, we learned that their itinerary was extremely tight. This led us to request at least four hours of their time, then two hours, and eventually, we were begging for at least 30 minutes just to be with them exclusively. All of these confirmations only came upon their arrival at the airport. Even Bianca’s arrival details were shared with us only then, which forced us to adjust our plans yet again—but as I said, we had already anticipated this.
