The Avengers (1998). Like Batman and Robin the previous year, there are few kind words spoken about this movie. It was badly butchered by the studios who panicked after the test screenings and released it without a press viewing. Many things happen, some scenery is chewed, Sean Connery appears. People dress as teddy bears. There is tea. Maybe a fembot? A massive CGI wasp? They wander around a maze for a bit? Maybe if they released the director's cut it might rescue its reputation. The plot might make sense and it could be really good in retrospect. We'll just have to wait...

It was caused by moderate-to-high rainfall around Mount Semeru.

We’ve seen a lot of dogs in bad conditions but I think this lovely boy might be the worst pain I’ve ever seen a dog in. We’d been told about him by a kind man in the community who found him but had no idea how to help beyond giving him water, food and putting a little electric fan on him. He eventually got through to us in sheer desperation. The dog has been there for days apparently and probably hit by some sort of major trauma. He hasn’t eaten or drank his water and he was laying in his own pee and poop. That little alley way was where it was all going to end very soon because I could see from his gums and other signs he was in big big trouble. We had to just go for it and make a stretcher with what we had and push through the pain. It took us 40 minutes to get back to Tina’s hospital and he screamed at every tiny bump on the road. I thought his spine was broken and was super relieved when it wasn’t. I thought he might be so bad that we’d never be posting this video as it might be better to put him out of his misery. He is very sick and has some stuff going on internally but it is pelvis related we believe. He is by no means 100% going to make it as he has so much going on inside him but we have some hope now. The team are in full action mode to try and save him. I called him Bear as he is a big fluffy gentle giant I can tell. I’m not sure how this story ends but it’s already better than he was alone in that alley this morning. He’s having a huge sleep now with lots of pain relief and meds. 🤞🤞🤞

That little alley way was where it was all going to end very soon because I could see from his gums and other signs he was in big big trouble. We had to just go for it and make a stretcher with what we had and push through the pain. It took us 40 minutes to get back to Tina’s hospital and he screamed at every tiny bump on the road. I thought his spine was broken and was super relieved when it wasn’t. I thought he might be so bad that we’d never be posting this video as it might be better to put him out of his misery. He is very sick and has some stuff going on internally but it is pelvis related we believe. He is by no means 100% going to make it as he has so much going on inside him but we have some hope now. The team are in full action mode to try and save him. I called him Bear as he is a big fluffy gentle giant I can tell. I’m not sure how this story ends but it’s already better than he was alone in that alley this morning. He’s having a huge sleep now with lots of pain relief and meds. 🤞🤞🤞

Some journeys open your eyes in ways you don’t expect; they sit with you long after you’ve arrived home and this trip was one of them. It was gifted to me by someone special and I thought it would be a simple birthday escape. Instead, it became a journey that stayed with me. I saw people walking through floodwater because that was the only way forward. I saw communities doing what they could, with what they had. There’s a false belief going around that the PNP started Portmore, but that’s just another attempt by them to rewrite history. The truth is, it was the vision of the Jamaica Labour Party and former Prime Minister Edward Seaga to create Portmore. It began as a housing scheme and grew into many housing estates, becoming a community where people lived but mostly worked in Kingston. As time passed, even the PNP realized that Portmore was growing into its own space with its own needs. They created a municipality, though it was not fully thought out, some people in Portmore vote for a mayor but are still part of another municipal council. This shows that Portmore has grown into its own city, with many people now living, working, and even retiring right there.
