Pay attention to your seed labels! Note that “other crop seed” would include things like ryegrass in a tall fescue seed. 1% is enough to leave one rye grass plant every foot in every direction.

use blue tag seed. it's worth the extra money.

Would Metsulfuron Methyl selectively take it out

No, not enough selectivity with metsulfuron, unless you wipe it on. Primisulfuron works great, but not registered, ofcourse, neiither is met in ornamental tall fescue. I would use the height differential to my advantage and wipe on glyphosate. Or just do what we are doing, mow it and rely on heat and disease to take it out. You can usually get the population down to 10% of the original with just heat. Then target the clumpy plants that remain with a dabber and glyphosate. Some clients can’t wait that long when their lawn looks like crap though.

Purchase sod quality seed! The best. Seed is cheap in the overall scheme of things.

Amazing.... Purity matters.....

Great post. Cash crop = Other Crop, and Poa trivialis is an Oregon cash crop 🫢
