Folks, take your BALLOTS to Dropbox, usually at your local government building!! Do NOT mail your BALLOTS in, use Dropboxes only!! Ever since Dejoy took over & the fiasco of 2020 elections, I drive my BALLOT up there & put it in the dropbox at City Hall..

From the USPS. DMM 608.11 is a proposed change to clarify what a postmark is. Traditionally is has been viewed as the date which the Postal Service received a piece of mail. You can still ask for a manual postmark at the service counter at your local USPS.

So the USPS is delaying sorting our mail and having it postmarked when they deem they can handle the mail flow. It seems to be a poor attempt to slow and delay our first class mail so that USPS can then claim no delayed mail. What a joke.

The walk-in option won't be a fix for many people who, for whatever legitimate reason, can't physically access a post office. I suspect that's not accidental.

Hasn't that always been the case? It doesn't get stamped just because you put it in the mailbox. It gets stamped at the processing center and would be the only way of proving the date of the post.

Certified mail should not be used for appeals, instead ask for a certificate of mailing. It’s a little white form, not the green and white form used for certified mail. I know because I used to do Medicare appeals for my clients, and the certificate of mailing is considered proof

So, it sounds like mail-in-voting is not a dependable system for voting and really shouldn't be valid.

This happened to me last year. I mailed a healthcare check two weeks before the due date they canceled it saying they didn’t have it on time. I asked how long it’s sat on someone’s desk and they got very rude with me.

This is good information to have. I no longer feel totally paranoid because I have long had a policy of taking important "time sensitive" mail to the post office to get it processed so it's date stamped the day I drop it off. I feel justified!

Inquiring minds want to know... - what company owns the automation? - and will they deliberately be delaying postmarks of certain districts in states during voting season in order to invalidate votes?

"they" are forcing oeople off of paper anything- the IRS already does w/tax returns- some states no longer accept a paper filing-must be electronically submitted. I remember taking tax returns 2 the post office by 11:59pm on 4/15 & yes--my postage meter handled it b4 drop off

For the record in the medical field, none of that is done via mail. It’s all done electronic fax, or on Internet portals. And it’s been that way for probably a good 10 years.

I worked for the Postal Service for thirty years. Postmarking incoming ballots was priority on election day and before. The onus of late ballots falls on the person submitting the ballot. If the Post Office can no longer handle that because of short staffing who is at fault?

My folks still use checks to pay every bill they need to know this. Also dont rely on the blue mailboxes -EVEN IF DIRECTLY OUTSIDE THE POST OFFICE that you have to use because their hours are shorter than your work hours- because my check got washed & some rando put their name

How is this not common knowledge? Like who actually thought that you put your letter in the box and miraculously the postmaster knows when it was put in the box as opposed to when it’s run through the system and actually starts moving through it…

You are either a LIAR or extremely uniformed! The USPS has NOT changed anything! They just clarified the definition. You must go inside to get it post marked if you need that specific date. Otherwise, your local post office is usually not the processing facity where they use automated machines to post mark first class mail. This has been the same process for decades!

I thought everyone always went inside and had things hand stamped for time critical items...the USPS stopped date stamping stuff a long time ago that was automatically processed. When was the last time you received a letter or bill that was cancelled and had a date and the name of a city on it?
