The 9th Circuit Court just ruled that the USDA improperly exempted ultra-processed foods from GMO labeling requirements. For years, companies like Heinz have dodged disclosing bioengineered ingredients by claiming the modified DNA becomes “undetectable” after heavy processing. Heinz has already faced lawsuits for marketing its products as “all natural” while sourcing from U.S. commodity suppliers that heavily use GM crops.
