Information preservation is quietly becoming a struggle over power, memory, and institutional influence. It’s very real and infuriating for researchers, take it seriously. The not so obvious, deeper issue goes beyond into whether societies keep an independent historical record strong enough to verify claims, challenge revisionism, and preserve public knowledge outside centralized political, corporate, or algorithmic control. Combined with platform restrictions, paywalls, and link rot, entire sections of the traditional web are becoming harder to retain or independently verify.
