They do not seek validation or acceptance from others in the same way. Individuals like Black Americans lack self-respect & pride, they become overly inclusive and attempt to claim others as part of their group, even when those Hispanic people clearly reject them. A person who lacks self-pride may try to attach themselves to anyone they perceive as similar. Despite decades of anti-white rhetoric, many White Americans remain confident in their identity, which is why they tend to be more exclusive and do not pressure Hispanics to identify as white in the same way Blacks force Latinos to identify as black. The overwhelming majority of Dominicans cannot identify as “black”, they are mostly Mixed with mostly Spanish European ancestry on average. In fact reparations wouldn’t make sense when historically, during the colonial period of Spanish Santo Domingo, only 10% of the population was enslaved by 5% of Dominicans who were slave owners. The remaining 85% of the population consisted mainly of Criollos (whites), Spanish-mixed people, and some free black individuals.
