The average Dominicans went from being 73% European(1500-1800) to 58% European today after 3 Blackening episodes: 1st) Haitian invasions between 1801-1856 resulted in the exile, massacres & reduction of white Dominicans from 40% white to 20% white. Haiti tried to blacken Dominicans by bringing Free Black Americans in 1824 during their occupation of DR. 2nd) The first self-inflicted Blackening happened in the late 1800’s when the DR government let Anglo-Afro-Caribbeans immigrate to DR to work in sugar fields, they are known as Cocolos. 3rd) The last self-inflicted Blackening(1930-50’s) happened during….. Black Americans appear to show signs of deep inferiority complex toward Dominicans. This Black man want to fight a Dominican man because he said he wasn’t Black as in ethnicity of Black American. Blacks🇺🇸 like Haitians want proximity to Hispanic Dominicans given that they are Mixed with mostly European ancestry on average. Blacks feel that Dominicans are superior to them which is why they feel offended when Dominicans reject them & don’t let them claim them as “black”. They do not seek validation or acceptance from others in the same way. Individuals like Black Americans lack self-respect & pride, they become overly inclusive and attempt to claim others as part of their group, even when those Hispanic people clearly reject them. A person who lacks self-pride may try to attach themselves to anyone they perceive as similar. Despite decades of anti-white rhetoric, many White Americans remain confident in their identity, which is why they tend to be more exclusive and do not pressure Hispanics to identify as white in the same way Blacks force Latinos to identify as black. The overwhelming majority of Dominicans cannot identify as “black”, they are mostly Mixed with mostly Spanish European ancestry on average. In fact reparations wouldn’t make sense when historically, during the colonial period of Spanish Santo Domingo, only 10% of the population was enslaved by 5% of Dominicans who were slave owners. The remaining 85% of the population consisted mainly of Criollos (whites), Spanish-mixed people, and some free black individuals.
