Before GTA VI: Remember how much more alive GTA V’s trailers felt compared to the final game. With all the excitement surrounding GTA VI, I recently went back and watched a comparison between GTA V’s trailers and the finished game. Some of the differences were genuinely interesting. What stood out most wasn’t the graphics, vegetation, lighting, or overall visual quality. In fact, in certain areas, the final game actually looked better than what was shown in the trailers. The biggest difference was the atmosphere. Many of the trailer shots made Los Santos feel incredibly alive, with NPCs behaving in ways that felt natural and believable. People seemed less like scripted game characters and more like real individuals simply going about their daily lives. That’s not a criticism of Rockstar at all. GTA V still went on to become one of the greatest and most successful games ever made. If anything, it’s a reminder that trailers are carefully directed and edited to create a specific mood, showcase the world at its best, and tell a compelling visual story. Lately, I’ve seen people dissecting every second of GTA VI footage—analyzing reflections, interiors, shadows, crowd density, and countless tiny environmental details from just a few brief clips. It really shows how enormous expectations have become. Personally, I’d rather keep my expectations grounded. If GTA VI ends up surpassing them, that will make the experience even more impressive. But if we spend years imagining a perfect version of the game, the final product will always have an impossible standard to live up to.

To give you a perspective on how advanced the NPC interaction system in GTA VI is going to be, here's a direct comparison between GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2 In GTA V, the only option is to greet or insult NPCs depending on the character that you're playing as, in this case here Trevor will insult them. Red Dead Redemption 2 on the other hand has a completely different NPC interaction system where you have the option to greet, antagonize or rob NPCs. These options alone can give you the freedom to greet an NPC first, then immediately antagonize them to allow for different outcomes based on how you choose to interact with NPCs. This alone was a game changer and you can expect Grand Theft Auto VI to have an even more complex NPC interaction system compared to Red Dead Redemption 2, with more dialogue options and different outcomes. Its probably one of the reasons why GTA VI is taking much longer to develop, imagine how many lines of dialogue Rockstar Games had to record and make all of them work seamlessly by the time the game comes out.

Rockstar just gave us the best look yet at non-enterable buildings in GTA VI It's not a straight up png like in GTA V and other open world games with skyscrapers but at the same time, it doesn't have anywhere near the detail as the rest of the game. What I'm really curious about is actually going there and seeing if the level of detail changes if I'm standing right Infront of it.

He said he plans to use the game to pivot from IRL streaming to gaming, allowing him more time to live his life off-camera. Hot take, but I’ve always felt Vice City is easily the worst GTA. I’ve never fully understood the hype around it. Don’t get me wrong the atmosphere is amazing, the 80s vibe is iconic, and the soundtrack is one of the best in the series. Tommy and Ken are great characters too. But once past that, the game itself doesn’t hold up as well for me. The map feels small and empty, especially compared to San Andreas, and even GTA 3 felt bigger in some ways. Driving around and exploring isn’t that fun, which is a huge part of what makes GTA games enjoyable. The missions are where it really loses me. Many feel repetitive or straight-up frustrating, especially early on. The RC helicopter mission inside the building is a perfect example more annoying than fun. It often feels like the game is just throwing obstacles at you instead of offering natural progression. To me, it’s always felt more like a quick follow-up to GTA 3 than a fully evolved entry, leaning heavily on style over substance. It has its moments, but compared to the other GTA games, it just doesn’t hit the same.

One of the Grand Theft Auto V downsides was that it didn't match GTA IV in terms of euphoria ragdoll physics, in this example here you can see how easily the NPCs die when you shoot them on the foot. Part of the reason why I believe the euphoria engine was downgraded was due to the scale of GTA V and that it was designed for PS3/Xbox 360 consoles. Fast Forward a generation later, Red Dead Redemption 2 is much better compared to this, but I still prefer the one in Grand Theft Auto IV. When GTA VI comes out, perhaps we will see a more improved version of euphoria ragdoll physics which will be a mix of both GTA IV style ragdolls and Red Dead Redemption 2.
