people using this quote to say capaldi is admitting he got subpar storylines, but if people actually listen to the interview, he is referring to the direction the show would have gone in if he had stayed after moffat left. not the direction the show went in during his time.

they actually just intentionally wrote the first sentence wrong, and mixed up other statements he made throughout the video into one.

so many interviews he's done where he's said this too: that he thought a bit about staying because he loved being the doctor but that he ultimately wanted to leave together with when his writer and the rest of the production team were leaving.

if anything, this is him admitting he wasn't a fan of chibnall's era. or at least what chibnall would have done story wise for capaldi's doctor.

Even if Chibnall’s era had been a critical success I still think it would have been a mistake for Capaldi to stay on even though he was sensational. A new showrunner needs a blank canvas that means a new Doctor otherwise your taking over a painting that’s already been started

yeah i like the idea of a doctor and their showrunner leaving together.

Yeah a new showrunner needs their own doctor same as a new Doctor needs their own Tardis. It never felt right that Capaldi had a hand me down Tardis from Smith now imagine that but for the entire vibe of the show

Moffat brought the mondasian cybermen back for his last finale specifically because they were capaldis favourite monster, no shot I'm believing that he secretly hated working with him behind the scenes.

Its almost malicious to switch the "I wasnt sure that it was going to go in" to the "I didnt like the direction it was going in" one is about a potential future the other about a certain one i find it hard to disagree with Capaldi here and this is very clearly not a critique.

For Peter Capaldi fans who may have missed it I recommend "The Devil's Hour" a series on Prime Series 3 has been shot and should screen this year Even saying what the genre is would be a spoiler Series 1 trailer

@Bobby_D75 Soo.. um.. 😶 basically how did the story go after he left? The direction fell like a rock. As for his stories, well quite frankly they were subpar. The ratings decline bore that out. It doesn’t matter what he believes, just what the audience and the facts in numbers showed.

Yeah but let's not let that get in the way of people using him as to properly up their narrative

It's a bit confusing too because how would he know where it was going? Moffat would have left earlier but was convinced to do that final year and Capaldi clearly felt that it's good for him to leave too, which is also something both Tennant and Whitaker did, so nothing unusual

You're right, he makes it clear he did not like the direction the show was going
