This afternoon I was on a Zoom call with Council colleagues to discuss the possible disruption of federal dollars into NYC, specifically schools. Everyone is very quick to blame our fiscal problems on the federal government. Guess what? The federal government doesn't run our city, the City Council does. We decide what we spend money on. We're responsible for the state of this city. And it's time the Democrat-run City Council take responsibility for the mess they've made. Our shortfalls are our OWN. You want to talk about schools? From the bus companies to the School Construction Authority to the nonprofits we pour billions into -- what are we getting for our money? Why doesn't anyone ever ask why we spend ENDLESSLY for increasingly poor results? Why is this ALWAYS someone else's fault -- the shutdown, Trump, congress -- there's ALWAYS someone else to blame. Where is the accountability? I've watched this city waste money on nonsense and duck accountability for the last four years. And there's going to be a new mayoral administration soon. Is accountability and fiscal discipline coming too? I'll tell you this -- if accountability isn't going going to come from within this city government, then it's going to have to come from outside. And I'm sure there are auditors and investigators in the federal government who'd love the opportunity to hold city officials and the nonprofit empire that leeches off our taxpayers accountable. I look forward to facilitating that action in any way I can in my next term.

What happened in Moscow yesterday is obvious, and Putin and other scums are trying to shift the blame to someone else. Their methods are always the same. We have seen it all before. There were blown-up houses, mass shootings, and explosions. And they always blame others. They came to Ukraine, burned down our cities, and then tried to blame Ukraine. They torture and rape people—and then blame them. They have brought hundreds of thousands of their terrorists to Ukrainian territory, and they are waging war against us, but they don’t care about what happens inside their own country. All of this happened yesterday, and instead of taking care of his Russian citizens and addressing them, this duffer Putin remained silent for a day, thinking about how to link this to Ukraine. Everything is entirely predictable. Those hundreds of thousands of Russians who are now killing on Ukrainian soil would certainly be enough to deter any terrorists. And if Russians are willing to die quietly in "crocuses" and not question their special services, Putin will try to exploit more of these situations for personal power. Terrorists must always lose.

Yesterday at a National Finance committee Champagne was speaking to senators about the situation in Canada. Want to know why life in Canada will never become affordable for Canadians? Because these individuals never accept any responsibility for it. They will endlessly blame other factors instead of themselves. When a Government can manage a nation with zero accountability, nothing is ever going to change. Ever. After 11 years I think the evidence of that is quite clear.

Is anyone else as tired as I am listening to these people claim to be changing & bettering Canada day in and day out? When you have to keep repeating this over & over again you are clearly trying to convince people of something that’s not true. They tell Canadians affected by the tariffs “we have your back” yet haven’t actually done anything meaningful to even get them removed or reduced. They think handing out our tax dollars endlessly is “helping” They don’t actually want to help anything, they want people dependent on them, the more the better. These sick people want to drag out a potential trade deal then they can blame someone or something else for what has clearly been 11 years of mismanagement & incompetence.

Just a week ago, we were notified that Mexico was preparing to release millions of gallons of sewage into our region. Thanks to public pressure, awareness, and advocacy—Mexico is now redirecting that sewage to their own treatment plant instead of dumping it into the U.S. We are cautious, but this could be a huge win for our communities, our coastline, and our environment. It proves that when we raise our voices, we can protect what matters. Let’s keep up the fight for clean water and accountability!
