I had an internet guy, Jeff, and he called Prichard to see if they were interested. While that was going on, Bill Busch had this... meeting telling us that anybody who doesn’t want to be here, they will release them. Prichard called me back an hour later and said we want you in Connecticut now.” Then Mike Graham pulled a knife on him in Cincinnati. “They’d get him drunk in the middle of the day, so he comes up to me and pulls a knife out on me… says he’s going to kill us all.” Saturn filed a police report. In 2007, Nike assembled Kanye West, Nas, Rakim, KRS-One & DJ Premier to create a hip hop anthem to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Air Force 1 sneaker. “Rick Rubin did the original, and word on the street is they weren’t satisfied with the outcome, says DJ Premier. It was a whole different tempo, and a whole different approach. Rob Stone said they might actually want to remix it. Actually, KRS-One called me and said, ‘Yo, I need you to help fix this record.’ Then I saw the launch on MTV, and I figured that’s over with, when they launch the sneaker and everything. Then all of a sudden I got a call back again two or three weeks later saying, ‘Yo, they still want you to do something.’ So they sent me the parts, and everything was different. Kanye, Nas, and KRS did the joint to the Rick Rubin beat. Rakim wanted to make his own beat. So he made his own beat, but at the wrong tempo. So when I got it I had to tweak it to get him to that tempo, but still keep him in the same tone of voice. You can do that with technology. So I had to keep him in the same key. He was at a 100 rpm, but it was 107, so that’s a big step. So I stay tuned in the same zero note that he pulled, sped it up, and it matched. Then I just pieced the whole thing together. “For the video, Rakim came here, and we turned all the lights down, and just made it really dark. Since he’s the only one who came here, when you see the play back, it’s ill. We shot him just with the acapella so we can bring him back in. When I saw that, even though Rakim was last on the song, in the video, I thought he should go first. And that’s how we flipped it around. The video was dope, man.”

John Kiriakou says prison officials told him an inmate he had just met had been ordered to kill him, only for him to discover they had told the same inmate that Kiriakou had been ordered to kill him so he exposed the lie, it went viral through the Huffington Post, and when the warden threatened to throw him in solitary, Kiriakou told him CNN would be waiting outside. “So I get called into the lieutenant’s office the next day, and usually if you’re being called into the lieutenant’s office, you’re going straight to solitary. “The bells ring, and I go to the lieutenant’s office. “They said, ‘You wanted to see me?’ “And they have this guy’s picture on a computer screen. “‘You know this guy?’ “I said, ‘I don’t know him. I met him yesterday. I just said, “Nice to meet you.”’ “‘What did he say to you?’ “He said, ‘Nice to meet you too.’ “‘Oh yeah? Well, after you walked out, he called a number in Pakistan, and they told him to kill you.’ “I basically said, ‘Fuck out of here. I can kill this guy? This guy was going to phone?’ “‘Oh no, don’t do that. We’ve been looking for a reason to transfer you.’ “I’m like, ‘Okay.’ “So every time I see this guy, I give him a stink eye, right? When I wait in line usually all the people are so chill and excited to get their hands on their new item they want. I’ve been in line where people order pizzas for everybody, I’ve had some moms hand out water and snacks for people. When I waited for the Nintendo Wii at Target, I brought a few cases of soda and cookies for anybody who wanted some. Needless to say it’s normally a good time but there are occasions when it’s not. A man who was notorious for cutting lines and claims he was already there gets called out. It gets so bad that a man who had his kids with him waiting in line had to show him he had a weapon for him to back off. When I was waiting in line for the Xbox 360 it was already tense since Microsoft announced there would not be enough to go around. But nobody prepared themselves for the actual number they were getting. Walmart was going to release it at midnight so when I got off work, I headed 10 minutes down the street to the Macedonia Walmart. People were waiting in line at the electronics department. I was 4th in line. The the person in front of me looked like a middle aged man, all he could talk about was how he was going to sell it on EBay for $1000. We overheard him talking on the phone with friends telling them to come down and each buy one for him, he would give them the money for it and then they could sell more on EBay. By the time his friends came, the line was all the way to the front of the store, it was crazy how many people were in line already. There was only an hour left to wait. When his friends got there he flagged them to join him in line. They casually walked to the front and got in line with him, I went from 4th in line to 6th in line. I told him this wasn’t allowed and his friends had to go to the end. He claimed he was saving a spot for them, I told him I heard his call and that was 5 hours ago, didn’t matter anyways because they were never there. I called for a manager. But right as that happened, an employee came out and gave a voucher for the system to the first and second in line. He apologized that they only had two total systems on hand only. I was already angry at that time because of the guys who cut me in line, I was like you seen us wait here since 6pm, why didn’t you tell us at that time you only had 2, you made us wait here for nothing. People were angry and left. I hurried up and drove a half an hour to fairlawn because I knew the US Merchandise store would have it and that most people didn’t know that. The only problem was that they weren’t releasing until the store opened at 9am the next day. So after waiting 5 hours I went and waited another 9 hours and was able to get one.

Steven Bauer almost didn't get the role of Manny in Scarface because Universal didn't see "the killer" in him. Specifically, they were unsure he could pull off the scene where Manny kills Frank Lopez. He later explained how he did it: “There was a week when they [the studio people] saw me doing a reading with Al, and they said to my agents, ‘He’s perfect but we haven’t seen that killer in him.’ They wanted me to work with this great acting coach, Sandra Seacat, and she gave me some acute insight into what I needed to allow. What she said was ‘You’re a prince, and Manny’s a prince to some degree, so that comes easy to you, but you will not allow the frog in you to be seen. You’ve got to open up and allow the frog, if called upon, to come out.’ My dad also gave me pointers on that scene: ‘You can’t just walk up and shoot him. Your facial expression has got to be believable that you’re going to pull the trigger and end a man’s life that you’re not mad at, you’re not angry at him. If I had to do that,’ he said, ‘I would find something to be angry about so you can pull the trigger. I remember when I was young, around 10-11 years old. My parents were both asleep as was my brother. I heard a knock on the back door which was weird because who uses the back door at a stranger’s house? The kitchen window was close by so I take a look. It looked like a teenager but hard to tell because they had a hoodie with the hood up. I didn’t open the door but I did crack the window and asked them what they wanted. They replied they were lost and wanted to come in to warm up and use the phone. Even when it’s daylight I know never to let anybody in period that I didn’t know, but a stranger after midnight was weird enough. I said no because I didn’t know them. Then they said that hey knew my dad and that’s why he came by. I said that’s fine and all but I’m not letting you use our phone. This was before cellphones were widely used, we had a landline like most people. The person wouldn’t take no for an answer and I could sense he was getting angry. I went and woke up my dad, I told him there was somebody at the back door and that he said they knew him. He walked to the door and looked out and said he didn’t know him. But he did talk through the door and told him that he was calling the police and that he should just leave. The person just stood there until the police finally came and even they asked him what he was doing knocking on the door at that hour. He told them he was lost and thought this was a house of a family friend. The police told him my dad didn’t know him and made him leave. So was this a case of wrong house or was he up to something. It makes me still wonder to this day but I’m still glad I never opened the door.
