The experience of levitating in space looking down at 20,000 people singing along to a song I wrote is one that will stick with me for a lifetime. This has been one crazy year. A month ago I travelled to Shanghai again to perform at four more arena shows, this time opening APHELION by ascending thirty feet into the air. I’ve wanted to fly while performing for over a decade now and was anxiously looking forward to it for almost six months. It was around this time in 2022 that my team of international volunteers and Ukrainians soldiers fought in Severodonetsk, one of the toughest battles of the war. After chasing a Russian SF team for two days, we became trapped in a stairwell. We had an existencial choice: stay put and get shot by a tank, or descend and get shot by a sniper. I was incredibly fortunate to escape, but not everyone did. I described this battle in detailed in my book. See the comments.

It was a total thrill to both work with the legendary Industrial Light & Magic for the first time on The Running Man Movie and also reunite with Andrew Whitehurst, who I first worked with on 'Scott Pilgrim'. Here Andrew takes us through the incredible blend of in camera photography, practical effects and (yes) magnificent digital wizardry that we managed to achieve in just this last year. My endless praise goes out to him and the whole team (at Rodeo and Untold too) for their tireless work and enthusiasm. Enjoy!

First time I was lead on a project was for Clash of Clans. We created a 360 degree experience you can pan around inside the YouTube video! The biggest thing I learned was managing people, which I am still learning about. Some animators needed more help than others. I learned when I should speak up to save us from mistakes and when to take on more without being asked because it was my responsibility to ensure the success and pleasant working environment for the team. I had never actually played Clash of Clans before working on this, a few years later I tried it and understood what all the fuss was about. It can be an addicting game especially if you’re in a clan with friends or family.

Knicks pull off a Game 4 W for the ages. My takeaways: -The Spurs need a heartbreak to prep for their eventual Championship, and tonight was it. Every great team has gone through this. They'll cry in the locker room tonight and be better for it in the coming seasons -I never felt SAS' lead was safe. The Knicks are the more mature team, they're physical, and they smell blood when it's in the water. You can't let a team like that hang around. You gotta kill them off fully -Experience is trumping talent in this series. The Spurs are the most talented team left, but the "somewhat" talented, ultra-experienced extremely gritty Knicks know how to close. Last year's heartbreak, imo, against Indiana built this -Beat the Spurs now. Because Wemby and Dylan Harper for the next 10 years is scary.

this is Zero. i was going to launch Zero 6 months ago, but decided not to. i felt if we launched too early, the team would get distracted. the product still had areas where i wanted to make the experience incredible, not just 'good'. Zero is more like a video game or movie, where the experience matters. it's not a tool, it's immersive. how people feel when they use it matters. it needed to be fast, feel real, and actually work. so instead of launching, we went heads down for 6 months to craft the best learning experience the world has seen. it has the best applied AI models, immersive experiences that feel like the real-world (like kick-off meetings, feedback walk-throughs, and real-time collaboration), and modern workflows that train people on how to use AI tools to make them more productive, rather than use them mindlessly as a crutch. it was a tough decision because my team put a ton of work into this video and wanted the world to see it. imagine, this was made 6 months ago! i'm super proud of my team for what they made, and i'm even more proud to finally share this with the world. so yea, this is Zero. this is the future of education. to join the beta, let me know in the thread.

My first Allsvenskan goal was against Djurgården at Fredriksskans on the 10/05/2008. Before I made my first team debut for Kalmar FF, I spent 3months playing for the reserve team while I training with the first team on a daily basis. My first encounter with Nanne Bergstrand before I signed with Kalmar FF, he told me how much he trusted me and how he will love it that I joint the team after laying down the plans for me in the team. He said "you will be the joker of the team this season" I didn't understand what he meant be that but I didn't care about that because I trusted myself enough that I will definitely play more than a joker role if given the chance. So during this 3months playing for the Reverse Team I was not happy at missing games for the first team at all because training with them made me feel like I can play in this team. During one of the games with the reverse team against Malmo FF away from home was when everything thing changed for me. Playing against them is always difficult even their first team. We won the game 3-4 and i scored 4 scored 4 goals against a very good Malmo FF reserve team and that was the last time I played for the reserves that season. The next day there was no recovery for me so I had to training with the first team as usual. Nanne called me before training and told me I will be with part of the first team match squad moving forward. May 10th I scored my first Professional goal after being on the pitch for 10mins and I did it in style. I was so happy to have scored the last goal of the game to give us a comfortable 5-1 win. The joy and tears in my eyes was the reward for my patience and determination to prove myself that I have a place in the first team. I went on to play 21 games for the first team and became the replacement for our Brazilian star Caesar Santin who joined Fc Copenhagen. Be patient with yourself and trust in your abilities to make it happen.

This first episode# of Costco Clueless… The “abandoned” trolley! I had a conversation with the guy and told him that if I were shooting an episode of People Behaving Badly right now, he would be the star. It started out with an abandoned trolley at the refrigeration section. It was there for a bit then when I started to record but he showed up. Then the second time, watch and listen at the end. When he did it a third time I had the off camera chat with him. There was a customer who have me a thumbs up and a thank you.

Inspite of the provocation from people who were guarded by police and the military, our team remained calm and didn’t respond to the provocation. I’m sure police was eagerly waiting for one of our people to even point a finger at the provokers and they would react. One wonders, what would happen had it been NUP supporters who had raided a campaign of the NRM. They would now be in some torture basement, if not the grave! These are all signs of cowardice and desperation by the NRM regime, but Uganda will be free!!

STAR WARS hit screens on this day in 1977. It was one of the first films I saw in the theater. Because it was in theaters for over a year (like RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK would be four years later), I can’t be sure if I saw it in 1977 or 1978, but I do know that I was very young. I remember going with my mom, that it was a matinee, and that we sat in the middle. The seats stand out to me because I remember I had to use the restroom in the middle of the climactic battle scene :) I’d see it multiple times in the theater over its run and would see THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK and RETURN OF THE JEDI on their opening weekends. And yes, I remember the marketing for the third film when it was called REVENGE OF THE JEDI. If you did not live through it, it is hard to describe the STAR WARS mania that gripped the country in 1977 and lasted through RETURN OF THE JEDI in 1983. From lines at the theaters to toys to costumes to books to the infamous 1978 STAR WARS HOLIDAY SPECIAL, it was an amazing time to be a kid and witness the magic of the movies firsthand through a phenomenon you knew was something extremely special. I can’t be 100% sure that STAR WARS was my first movie in the theater, as during that timeframe I also saw WATERSHIP DOWN (traumatic) and THE RESCUERS (dark) as a double feature with my dad (we had to travel to a city and I found a 9mm bullet in the street – a bullet I still have today), CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF THE THIRD KIND with my grandmother (where I tripped running to the theater with a bowl of popcorn that was almost bigger than I was and spilling it all over the hallway - and I remember how nice the guy was behind the counter who gave us another one for free), and a double feature of ESCAPE TO WITCH MOUNTAIN and THE BLACK HOLE, but in looking at the dates of those two films I think it was after STAR WARS and that the theater paired an older film (ESCAPE TO WITCH MOUNTAIN – 1975) with a new film (THE BLACK HOLE – 1979). I just watched the original three films with my youngest son, and it brings me right back…probably the closest I can get to a time machine.

NCAA Champion Michael La Sasso is now the youngest player on LIV Golf after signing for Phil Mickelson’s HyFlyers GC during the off season. He explained his decision to join the league ahead of the season opener in Riyadh: “One of the things that went into my decision, when I was 10 years old starting to play golf, like, the goal for me was to play professional golf. Having people that have been very well-known in the golf space and are so experienced, and to be able to be a part of a team that's with Phil, somebody that's had so much experience, I feel like he'll be able to answer any question that I throw at him, to have the ability to be able to ask somebody that on a daily basis, that played a very big part in it for me because not every 21-year-old has the opportunity to be able to ask questions to those people. So that was a big factor for me. “I think so far, I'm so grateful that I made the decision, and I am very happy to be here.” Michael also says that Caleb Surratt, who joined Jon Rahm’s LIV Golf team for the 2024 season, had an impact on his decision too: “So, I've had a very good relationship with Caleb Surratt. Not many people know this, but he was committed to NC State at the same time I was. He's from North Carolina, I'm from North Carolina. Growing up, I played a lot of golf with him, and we were very close. “I remember when he first came here, he stayed at my house because he was getting a swing lesson from -- we go to the same instructor. Everything that he had to say, it made me excited. From a very early start, hearing about LIV and every perk that it had and hearing him talk so highly about it, the fact that I actually had an opportunity to come out here and play, and I asked him a bunch of questions and kind of from the start, everything that he had to say and people that I talked to, everything was so, so good.” He went on to say about the prospect of playing team golf: “I think that makes the transition a little bit easier. I feel like my golf has kind of taken off when I've been in a team environment. For me, having a team around me was very appealing. “I've played good golf as a team. I like the camaraderie, kind of the friendly banter that goes back and forth between the guys. For me to have the opportunity to come play on a team environment for a professional career, I think that's the coolest thing ever.” This is Michael’s rookie season as a pro after signing for HyFlyers GC straight out of college. Normally, it’s a difficult transition for young players to make, but Michael isn’t short of confidence and has some lofty goals: “I've talked with a bunch of people on the team. I know Phil is very big on having a team win and an individual win. Now being the youngest player in the league, I'd kind of like to come in and make a good noise, and I would like to win a couple times. I would like to see the team win for sure, as a team event. I played with Elina in 2015, but never performed. I was about to, but I had an emergency: We’d just played the overture and I was called off stage and informed that my wife was in an ambulance with chest pains. When asked what I wanted to do, I said “I’m out” and ran out of the hall in my tuxedo, left my clarinets on stage. As I ran out the door the last thing I heard over the PA was the clarinet solo echoing the opening, played by my colleague on no rehearsal. “It’s gonna be ok” I thought as I sprinted for my car. Sadly my wife was not ok, passing away two days later. I always think of this when I hear the Sibelius Violin Concerto now, in a way it was the perfect piece for the occasion, the ultimate expression of loneliness. Here’s Elina playing it that same year, the music of her people. Hope her violin is ok:

CORNUCOPIA on Apple Music Apple Music and AppleTV+ Apple TV !! This Friday, 24th of January at 7pm PT. #AppleMusicLive i am so thrilled to share an hour excerpt of the Cornucopia concert film here with you online . the full version will be played later in theatres . this has been a long journey with hundreds of people helping out . i am so beyond enormously grateful to every single one of them . i feel the modern concert film is a matriarchially friendly construct , welcomed in the current climate . where female musicians can share their worlds uncorrupted . in cornucopia , i was joined by musical director and multi instrumentalist bergur þórisson , percussionist manu delago , flute septet Viibra , harpist katie buckley and the hamrahlid choir . i spent last decade working with 360-degree sound and visual software in virtual reality and animation, creating Biophilia and later Vulnicura as a VR album. i was deeply inspired by the idea of a fully-immersive experience spreading Utopia and Fossora into fully surround speakers. my intention was to bring what we had created for 21st-century VR into a 19th-century theatre - taking it from the headset to the stage. this vision was realised with 27 moving curtains that captured projections on different textures and LED screens, creating a digitally animated show : a "modern lanterna magica" for live music. i also wanted to feature bespoke instruments: a magnetic harp, an aluphone, a circular flute, and a reverb chamber, specially built with an audio architect to enhance the most intimate version of a performance—in a personal chapel. throughout this tale, there is a subplot woven in: a second story of an avatar—a modern marionette who alchemically mutates, from puppet to puppet, from the injury of a heart wound to a fully healed state. i hope you enjoy it. warmthness, björk
