I suspect both US and Russia negotiate capitulation. US under Trump only talks about peace. Freedom is never mentioned. In Norway 🇳🇴 we always celebrate independence from 1945, never peace from 1940 after capitulation.

The wording is a bit strange? "someone from Kyiv who is willing to take responsibility" Is he suggesting that Russia will recognize anyone who sets up a parallel Ukrainian government? Or is he hinting that Zelensky should be deposed?
Whenever the russian government mentions a 'final settlement' I can't help but think of the term 'Endlösung'.
What he means is, he wants someone in Kiev who will just surrender to all of Russias demands, give up territory and live as a Russian state under Russian control, I'm sure Ukranians don't need to be reminded of how that goes.
