Pete Carroll said, "The thing about grit is real." "It's about competing, pushing yourself, striving to be your best, and what's really exciting is nobody controls this, but you." Grit isn't about talent or luck. It's about choosing to endure. It's taking ownership.

🏀 "The kids love it. I have kids fighting over who can get here earliest to get shots off before school." – Coach Garrison When passion meets performance, Noah Backboard makes it happen. Turn practice into obsession with shot-tracking that players can’t get enough of.

Grit and resilience are rooted in relationships. When someone is there to say “you’re going to be ok”, you are much more likely to keep pushing through, endure. When a parent is invested in their kids education, greater chance the child will endure the tough times of it.

Absolutely Ray! Grit grows stronger when you know someone’s in your corner. Support creates safety, and safety gives you the courage to keep going. When someone believes in you, it’s easier to endure and push forward because the relationships around you remind you that you’re not alone in the fight.

A valid point. In the midst of discussing what works, we most likely discuss less the how. Everyone finds their level…. the choice of how is the driver… A Coach invariably is the catalyst.

Well said. The how reveals the mindset and great coaches don’t just teach effort, they shape the standard that effort rises to.

But it IS genetically underpinned. Grit is essentially conscientiousness…which is estimated to have a 40% hereditary link (for example, see the work of Northwestern’s Professor Dan McAdams). Very debatable how much some players can shift this trait… Sorry to be that guy…
