In recent footage, Russian mobile firing teams are seen launching "Yolka" interceptor drones against incoming Ukrainian FP-1 drones, with the interceptors reportedly destroying them through direct aerial collisions. The footage also shows Russian soldiers attempting to engage the incoming drones with small-arms fire, but hitting fast-moving targets at high altitude can be extremely difficult. U.S. company Mara has presented its Spike counter-drone system, designed to defend against FPV drones. The system consists of two main components: the Spotter detection module, which uses visual and acoustic sensors to identify incoming drones, and the Seeker interceptor UAV. The Seeker reportedly has a maximum speed of up to 200 km/h (124 mph) and an operational range of approximately 1.5 km (0.9 miles). Mara estimates the complete Spike system will cost between $30,000 and $100,000, depending on the number of Seeker interceptors included. A single system can reportedly accommodate up to 48 interceptors. The company says the interceptor itself is intended to cost approximately the same as its target, or up to twice as much. A stationary version of Spike is planned for late 2026, while vehicle-mounted and portable versions using manual launch are expected in 2027. 🇺🇦🚀 Ukraine has added Alexa Spatium to its arsenal, the country’s first domestically developed jet-powered interceptor drone designed specifically to counter Russia’s increasingly fast jet-powered attack UAVs. The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense says Alexa Spatium’s primary targets are Russian Geran-3, Geran-4 and Geran-5 attack drones, as well as Shahed-131s. The high-speed platform can also engage reconnaissance UAVs, helicopters and other aerial targets. Beyond its interceptor role, the system was designed with the capability to engage selected ground and surface targets, giving it considerably greater mission flexibility than a dedicated anti-drone interceptor. Alexa Spatium represents another step in Ukraine’s rapidly evolving layered air-defense architecture.
