🚀Ukraine has tested a unique and secret super-weapon that reportedly has no equivalent in the world yet The company Fire Point (the same one that produces long-range drones and the “Flamingo” missile) has successfully carried out the first tests of a new anti-aircraft missile, the FP-7.x. It is the... core of a future air defense system with the symbolic name “Freya,” designed to intercept Russian ballistic missiles such as “Iskanders” and “Kinzhal” missiles, as well as swarms of drones. The key feature is the cost. The Ukrainian missile is expected to cost around $700,000, compared to nearly $4 million for the American Patriot interceptor — more than five times cheaper. If everything goes according to plan, Ukraine may reduce its reliance on scarce interceptor missiles supplied by the United States. However, experts note that the new system cannot fully replace Patriot systems for now — it would rather significantly strengthen Ukraine’s air defense capabilities.show more

🚨🇷🇺🚀 Russia is accelerating ballistic missile production as Ukraine faces a growing shortage of air defense interceptors. The widening imbalance threatens to increase pressure on Ukrainian cities in the months ahead. According to Ukrainian military intelligence, Russia is currently producing around 120 ballistic missiles per month, including Iskander-M and Kh-47M2 Kinzhal missiles, in addition to 20-25 Zircon hypersonic cruise missiles. Moscow is also reportedly expanding its arsenal with KN-23 ballistic missiles supplied by North Korea. The assessment suggests that the Kremlin is increasingly betting on a strategy of attrition, seeking to intensify large-scale missile strikes while Ukraine waits for additional Western air defense interceptors, the development of its own anti-ballistic systems, and the serial production of domestically manufactured ballistic missiles. According to the report, many Ukrainian Patriot launchers are currently without interceptor missiles, with both PAC-2 and PAC-3 launch canisters reportedly standing empty. As a result, Russia’s growing ballistic missile arsenal is expected to remain one of the most serious threats to Kyiv and other Ukrainian cities, as well as to the country’s critical infrastructure, in the coming months. The combination of rising Russian missile production and limited interceptor availability is shaping one of the most critical challenges for Ukraine’s air defense as the war enters a new phase of long-range strikes. 🚨🇺🇸 Lockheed Martin is developing a lower-cost Patriot interceptor to counter the growing drone threat. The new PAC-3 ACE missile is designed to provide much of the combat capability of the PAC-3 MSE at a significantly lower price. According to available information, the PAC-3 ACE will be capable of intercepting drones, cruise missiles, and short-range ballistic missiles, while delivering around two-thirds of the combat effectiveness of the PAC-3 MSE. The missile is expected to cost between $1.6 million and $2.7 million, compared with $4 million to $5.3 million for the current PAC-3 MSE interceptor. The existing PAC-3 MSE remains one of the world's most advanced air-defense missiles, designed to destroy long-range ballistic missiles and, according to its manufacturer, capable of engaging certain hypersonic threats. As demand for Patriot interceptors continues to surge, the U.S. government has also asked Lockheed Martin to triple production of the PAC-3 MSE, reflecting the growing need to replenish missile stockpiles while preparing for future high-intensity conflicts. Russian report: Gulf air defenses face a “million-dollar missile vs. a drone costing a few thousand dollars” dilemma The Russian Center for Analysis of World Arms Trade published a study and analysis concluding that Gulf states’ reliance on long-range U.S. air defense systems against low-cost threats such as attack drones creates a significant gap between the cost of the attack and the cost of interception. The center noted that an Iranian Shahed-136 drone is estimated to cost around $20,000–$50,000 , while a PAC-3 interceptor missile can cost approximately $4 million , making the interception of large-scale drone attacks extremely expensive. The report argues that systems such as Patriot and THAAD were largely designed to counter long-range threats and ballistic missiles, while Gulf states need diversified defensive layers, including short- and medium-range systems to counter drones, cruise missiles, and low-altitude targets. The center proposed strengthening air defenses with Russian systems such as Buk-M3 “Viking” for medium-range defense, Tor for short-range defense, and Pantsir-S1M to protect critical infrastructure from close-range threats. According to the report, combining long-, medium-, and short-range systems could increase the number of engagement channels and reduce the depletion of costly interceptor missiles, particularly around oil refineries, desalination plants, ports, and energy facilities. The Russian center concludes that addressing the cost gap between offensive weapons and interceptors could make large-scale drone attacks less economically viable by building a layered defense system capable of countering threats at a more balanced cost.

Key statements by chief designer of Fire Point company Denys Shtilerman Denys Shtilierman on the Ukrainian FP-7 and FP-9 ballistic missiles: ▪️ The FP-7 ballistic missile will soon be tested against targets in Russia. ▪️ A clone of the S-300 missile has been developed for existing launchers. After integration with radar systems - a complex process - it could form the basis of an anti-ballistic shield under the Freya project. ▪️ The missiles are cheaper than the original S-300 due to simplification and the use of new manufacturing technologies. ▪️ The missile can also be used as a cheaper analogue of ATACMS. This is how the FP-7 missile with a range of up to 300 km, depending on the warhead, was developed. ▪️ The FP-7 warhead is expected to be larger than that of ATACMS, while the missile itself will cost 2.5 times less. ▪️ The developers say they are ready to produce as many FP-7 missiles as ordered. Unlike Flamingo, which currently faces engine production issues, FP-7 has no manufacturing bottlenecks. ▪️ Combat use of the FP-7 is expected to begin before summer. ▪️ The longer-range FP-9 ballistic missile is also intended, among other things, for strikes on Moscow - according to the developers, attacks on provincial targets do not impress Russia’s top leadership. ▪️ Tests of the FP-9 are expected to begin in early summer. The engine is currently being finalized. The missile’s range is up to 800 km. ▪️ FP-9 will be difficult to intercept: the speed of the Iskander-M is about 800 m/s, while FP-9 is expected to reach 1200 m/s. ▪️ The goal is for 25% of the missiles to penetrate Moscow’s air defenses and hit their targets. Cruise missiles and drones cannot reach targets in Moscow because they are intercepted. ▪️ Our luck is that in Russia the cost of missile production is inflated several times over because of theft.

🇺🇦 Major news. Ukraine will produce Patriot interceptor missiles jointly with U.S. arms giant Raytheon Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky met with the leadership of one of America's largest defense companies. The two sides agreed to take their cooperation to a new level — a move that could prove to be a major breakthrough. Raytheon is one of the largest U.S. defense contractors and the manufacturer of the Patriot air defense system. If the project goes ahead, Ukraine will be able to localize production of one of the most critical, expensive, and hard-to-replace components of its air defense network, significantly strengthening its ability to defend against Russian missile attacks.

❗️Ukraine is developing a "revolutionary" air defense system as an alternative to scarce and expensive Patriots Fire Pont, the manufacturer of the Flamingo cruise missile, is in negotiations with European companies to launch a new air defense system by next year, said the chief designer and co-founder of the company, Denys Shtilerman, in an interview with Reuters. According to him, it is an inexpensive alternative to the Patriot system, which will allow reducing the cost of intercepting a ballistic missile to below $1 million. The first test of the new system is planned for the end of 2027. Shtilerman also reported that Fire Point expects approval from the government for investments from a Middle Eastern conglomerate that values the company at $2.5 billion. This will open up new opportunities, including the launch of satellites into low Earth orbit.

🇺🇦 Ukrainian specialists have successfully tested a modernized version of the Soviet R-60 “air-to-air” missile. The outdated electronic components were replaced by the Ukrainian company Center of Innovative Technologies Program with modern digital analogs, which significantly improved the capabilities of the missile’s infrared homing head when intercepting aerial targets. 🔻 The modernized R-60 missile is intended for arming Ukrainian-produced Dragon-type anti-aircraft missile systems. When launched from a ground launcher, the missile’s engagement range reaches 6.5 km. The R-60 “air-to-air” missile was developed in the 1960s. Ukraine inherited significant stocks of these missiles after the collapse of the USSR. This modernization is a practical and cost-effective solution that breathes new life into Soviet-era stockpiles. By upgrading the R-60 for ground launch within the Dragon system, Ukraine is rapidly strengthening its short-range air defense capabilities against Russian drones and low-flying aircraft without the need to develop entirely new missiles from scratch. This approach demonstrates efficient use of available resources and technological ingenuity.

🚨🇺🇦🚀 BIG | Ukraine's missile industry is entering a new phase with longer-range weapons and a new European-backed missile defense program. New developments suggest Kyiv is rapidly expanding both its offensive strike capabilities and its ability to defend against ballistic missile attacks. According to Fire Point CEO Iryna Terekh, Ukraine's Sapsan ballistic missile has recently undergone significant modernization, achieving its first major improvements in precision. At the same time, Fire Point has reached agreements with 13 European defense companies to jointly develop the Freyja ballistic missile defense system. Speaking to Reuters, Terekh said the project aims to achieve its first successful ballistic missile interception by mid-2027. The interceptor is expected to cost less than €1 million per missile, making it significantly cheaper than comparable Patriot interceptors. Norway's Kongsberg is developing the command-and-control system, while discussions continue with Germany's Diehl Defence to integrate its missile guidance technology. Fire Point also revealed that its FP7 ballistic missile is in the final stage of certification by Ukraine's Ministry of Defense and is expected to enter combat service in early autumn. The larger FP9 ballistic missile, which the company says will have the range to strike Moscow, is scheduled to be fully operational by late autumn. The announcements underline Ukraine's accelerating push to build a domestic missile industry capable of strengthening both its strategic strike capability and its long-term air and missile defense with growing support from Europe's defense sector. President Zelenskyy: "Our Warriors showed good results today in shooting down drones and cruise missiles, but unfortunately not Russian ballistic missiles. The reason is the insufficient supply of interceptor missiles. It is crucial that the world - above all the United States and our European partners - leave the NATO Summit in Ankara with strong decisions to strengthen our air defense and, therefore, protect the lives of ordinary people. As long as missiles for Patriot systems remain in our allies’ warehouses, they only encourage Russia to keep 'defeating' residential buildings. The United States and Europe have the capabilities to stop this terror." 📹: Reuters

🚨🇺🇦 Zelensky says Ukraine’s own anti-ballistic defense system will be ready in the near future, while the United States is preparing to increase production of Patriot interceptor missiles next year. The Ukrainian president said Kyiv expects the additional U.S.-made interceptors regardless of how quickly the war ends, stressing that even if peace is achieved, Ukraine will continue to need strong missile-defense capabilities. 🔥 The message reflects a broader shift from wartime survival toward long-term deterrence. Ukraine is trying to reduce dependence on limited foreign interceptor stocks while also locking in a stronger postwar air-defense architecture capable of protecting the country against future ballistic-missile threats.

❗️ Russia has struck Ukraine with a Banderol drone-missile for the first time, — RBC-Ukraine. Due to its higher speed, the target is much harder to shoot down, and the range of this weapon is 500 km. The deployment of the new Banderol drone-missile represents a notable upgrade in Russia’s long-range strike capabilities. Its increased speed makes interception significantly more difficult for Ukrainian air defenses. This development underscores the ongoing technological arms race in the conflict and the need for Ukraine to further strengthen its layered air defense systems.
