President Zelenskyy: More than ten countries have already turned to us for support in defending against Iranian Shahed drones. "These are, in fact, the same attack drones that the Iranian regime supplied to Russia and trained Russians to use against the civilian population of Ukraine. Right now, in Ukraine, we undoubtedly have the greatest expertise in the world in countering Shaheds due to this war and these massive attacks."

Zelensky’s Weapons Sales Manager: 'What we see in the Middle East are the same drones that attack Kyiv on a daily basis, now also attacking countries in the region. In fact, Ukraine can help the Gulf countries, because they have developed effective systems for intercepting and defending against drones. Thus, we can consider how to combine these capabilities to help countries repel drone attacks. That's the essence of our discussion today.' - SK

🚨Zelenskyy is emphasizing that while Ukraine is willing to help the Middle East with interceptors, it is time to provide Kyiv with the means to defend itself against Russo-Iranian drone and missile strikes. “Lives in Europe and lives in the Middle East deserve equally effective protection. We're doing our part to help defend (Middle East) against the (Iranian) Shaheds. We rightly expect our defense will get the support it needs in response. And that Russia will face consequences not just for dragging out this war (in Ukraine) against us, but for trying to escalate the other war (in the Middle East) as well”, - Zelenskyy on Saturday, March 7th, 2026.

“Russia is assisting the Iranian regime. The positive thing is that the Iranians are currently not providing Russia with weapons to strike Ukraine” - Zelenskyy. Ukrainian intelligence has already recorded the transfer of some components and Russian technologies to Iran, including those related to drones. Ukraine is ready to assist partners in the Middle East in countering Iranian Shahed drones and, if necessary, to send experts.

ZELENSKYY ON IRAN: "Every "Shahed" drone in Ukrainian skies proves that the Iranian regime must be held accountable for it's attempts to destroy lives and kill people. It is essential that those who defend life prevail in this confrontation. At the level of our teams – the Ukrainian team, the teams of the Emirates and Qatar, and other states – we will determine how, together, we can provide stronger protection for life. Ukraine's expertise in countering "Shahed" drones is currently the most advanced in the world, and these drones represent the primary challenge in that region as well. It is clear why so many requests are directed to Ukraine. However, any such cooperation aimed at protecting our partners can only proceed without diminishing our own defense capabilities here in Ukraine. Russia's war against Ukraine continues, Russian strikes continue, and protecting Ukrainian lives remains our first priority. Thank you to everyone who stands with Ukraine! Glory to Ukraine!"

As Iranian Shahed drones strike targets across the Middle East, Ukrainians are watching closely — and seeing a familiar threat, CBS News' Aidan Stretch reports from Kyiv. The same drone technology has been used repeatedly in Russia’s war on Ukraine, including attacks in the heart of Kyiv. After years of defending against them, Ukraine has developed some of the world’s most advanced counter-drone tactics, from low-cost interceptors to layered air defense systems. President Volodymyr Zelensky and defense experts say that experience is now critical as more countries confront Iranian-style drone warfare for the first time.

Q: How is Ukraine helping the US in the Gulf? Ex-US Ambassador to Ukraine, Taylor: US allies in the Gulf went to Ukraine and said — help us defend against Iranian Shahed drones. Ukraine said: we'll help you knock them down. And here's the other thing — Russia provided Iran with military intelligence on where US forces were, and Iran went after that. The Ukrainians were there helping us and our allies.

Kaja Kallas: July and August have been the deadliest months for civilians in Ukraine. Russia is really escalating to hurt the people of Ukraine as much as possible and to break them. Ukrainians are standing strong, and we have to support them. The main issue is air defense. They are lacking interceptors. We know that some countries have interceptors that will expire soon, so it would be very good if those were given to Ukraine so that they could use them to protect their people.

Today I spoke with leaders of countries currently under attack from Iran – the President of the United Arab Emirates and the Amir of Qatar. We will continue this diplomatic engagement with the broader Middle East and Gulf region. Ukraine stands in solidarity with all those who are resisting the spread of war and violence. For decades, the Iranian regime has invested in destroying the lives of its neighbors and others wherever it could reach. It was on that very foundation that they became accomplices of Russia in the war against Ukraine. FOX: Does President Trump see his conflict with Iran as linked to your war with Russia? ZELENSKYY: I’m not sure. We didn’t really speak about it. FOX: Do you? ZELENSKYY: Yeah, look at this. Russia gave drones to Iran. Iran used these drones to attack Middle Eastern countries and Israel. Is it true? Yes, it’s true. The details in destroyed Iranian drones are Russian. Everybody saw this. That’s the first point. Then Russia provided Iran with satellite images of American bases in Middle Eastern countries. Did they give them? Yes, they did. FOX: And you’re convinced? ZELENSKYY: Absolutely. Then Russia is very happy, we know this from intelligence, that there’s no real end to war in Middle East. Why? Because they understand that since United States is involved in this war, it can’t help Ukraine at the same level as before. For example, with Patriots, and many other examples.

The best way to defend Europe is to help Ukraine defeat Russia. I did not hear this in Munich. - Former US Army Commander in Europe Ben Hodges Ben Hodges: Europeans have got to accept more responsibility for what goes on in Europe. Ukraine is a European country. Europeans need to understand that the best way to defend Europe is to help Ukraine defeat Russia. I did not hear this in Munich. That was a disappointment. I did not hear a clear commitment, "We're going to help Ukraine win, to defeat Russia inside Ukraine," because it's in the interest of Europe. It's not that there's not enough resources, it's just not enough political will. And if they don't do it, this is only going to get worse for Europe. The best thing to do is to make that commitment to help Ukraine wreck Russia's oil and gas infrastructure, stop all of these shadow fleet vessels that are going out to the Baltic Sea and Black Sea, inflict consequences on Russia for their gray zone operations, and give Ukraine the tools that they need to defend themselves. If that happens, then I think we'll see a positive end to this war much sooner. 📹: DW

Sanita Pavluta-Desland, Latvia's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, gave the Iranian representative the middle finger for the horrors they have wrought in Ukraine by helping Russia. Bravo! Sanita Pavluta-Desland: 💬 Outside the Middle East, Iran is directly supporting Russian aggression in Ukraine. Iran has supplied Russia with more than 50,000 Shahed drones, which are being used in the Middle East. Iranian weapons and technology have killed thousands of innocent Ukrainians. Just as Russia is doing in Ukraine, Iran is now sowing terror among the civilians of the Persian Gulf countries. We stand with the courageous Iranian people who have endured so much—decades of brutality and repression.

Q: President Zelenskyy has called for more interceptors. Who can afford to give PAC-3 interceptors to Ukraine? Michael MacKay: Who can afford? Every country. Anyone who has them, because European countries won't use them. They won't themselves fight Russian invaders. The only defense of Europe is the armed forces of Ukraine. Russian terror state is targeting Ukrainian civilians because they know that only will of Ukrainians really stands in their way, and not European leadership outside Ukraine. Wealth of European Union is vastly greater than that of Russian terror state, and they refuse to devote it even to defend themselves.

Since the start of its full-scale invasion, Russia has used over 57,000 Shahed-type drones initially supplied by Iran against Ukraine. These same drones are used by Iran against countries in the Middle East and beyond. The Iranian regime chose to become Putin’s accomplice, supplying not only drones but also the technology behind them. Iranian and Russian regimes support each other, and there is growing evidence, including Russian parts in Shahed drones, that now hit Iran’s neighbours. The Iranian people deserve a chance to rid themselves of a terrorist regime and ensure safety to all nations hit by terror originating in Iran. The world is stronger than those who seek to destabilise it. We call on our partners to act decisively.

Just look at the kind of help Ukraine has given to the Gulf countries. In the long term, there is definitely a road for us.

In the Middle East and the Gulf, when countries turn to Ukraine for support, they see Ukraine as Europe. They see it as working with Europe. No one there doubts that Ukraine is Europe. Ukraine’s contribution to global stability is seen as Europe’s contribution – by everyone in the world. So why, in some key issues, is Ukraine still limited as part of Europe? Ukraine’s EU membership is a security guarantee – for us and for Europe. Our potential – human, technological, military – is Europe’s potential. Russia understands this, sometimes better than some in Europe. That is why Russia does everything to stop Ukraine from joining the EU. And that is why we are doing everything to make it happen.
