And yet we know that the DOJ, either through its gross negligence or through an act of intentional intimidation, coercion, to create fear, released thousands of pages that had so many of the Epstein victims' and survivors' information contained in it.

This wasn't some one-off mistake. We know for a fact that the DOJ released over and over again, hundreds and hundreds of times, the personal identifying information of several victims. We know that the process was flawed. We know that it didn't work. And now we know that it also worked to protect the identity of Jeffrey Epstein, the main perpetrator of these crimes. But when we filed our reply, we made it clear that FOIA has very specific limitations that would prevent a lot of this information in the Epstein files from coming out. So then we got our hands on a response from the DOJ. It was a letter sent to a gentleman who had filed his own FOIA request seeking information from the DOJ pursuant to FOIA regarding Ghislaine Maxwell and Todd Blanche. And what did the DOJ say? "Oh, you don't have to get it through FOIA. The Epstein Files Transparency Act is available for you." So the DOJ's been talking out of both sides of its mouth.

Thomas Massie and I wrote to him to request that he appoint a special master to ensure we get the files without excessive redactions. The nation and survivors will trust him to be a fair interpreter of what the law requires.
