Has anybody drawn a comparison between human interference in capitalist process and the emergent AI safetyist culture? I.e. not imposing on a system you don't really understand? Thinking of how worthless most economist predictions are here and the disasters they can lead to.

I think they're absolutely ripe for comparison and both are doomed to futility

I’m not a philosopher but this seems genuinely dumb to me or I’m too dumb to understand it at face value. There is nothing artificial about the intelligence of capitalism. Its culture. Culture solves problems. Culture is what emerges from distributed system of biological intelligences behaving according to rules that are made-up or imagined to be useful. The fact that it is too complex to map out in an individual’s mind seems like an odd reason to call it artificial. Most biological systems are too complex to be grokked by an individual.

I think that's a simplistic view, though - AI implies a level of intentionality, not just complex systems.
