Bitcoin’s Quantum Threat is Getting Harder to Ignore Fidelity Digital Assets says Bitcoin’s bitcoin:native private key protections may eventually need replacement or supplementation. Cryptographically relevant quantum computers do not exist today, but future systems could threaten current signatures. A powerful quantum computer could use Shor’s algorithm to derive private keys from public keys. Researchers are already evaluating quantum resistant alternatives, including the SHRINCS signature system. Any upgrade would face major tradeoffs involving transaction size, fees and network capacity. Source: Bitcoin's Path to Quantum Resistance by Fidelity

Eli Ben-Sasson | Starknet.io explained that Google’s new magic-state breakthrough improves how physical qubits create efficient logical qubits, one of three areas needed for a quantum computer that could break signatures. It does not break bitcoin:native today, but he says the progress is enough that Bitcoin should move faster on quantum resistance, including a soft fork.

Computers might solve problems by sending answers from the future. New quantum research suggests it’s theoretically possible—using entanglement to send measurement info backward in time at the quantum scale. It’s probabilistic and doesn’t violate causality. This could enable instantaneous quantum computation. Not time machines—just a rethink of “before” and “after.”

The computers of tomorrow are using photons instead of electrons... Notice the fiber optics here in this quantum super computer, it's the new design and the copper wire is pretty much gone. The tech is so advanced now they're using entangled photon packets to resonate data from one quantum computer to another via light waves... Wireless quantum networks could communicate via entanglement without the need for radio or other wireless transmissions... this is the dawn of a new computing revolution....

Quantum Threat to Crypto Gets Fresh EU Warning European financial watchdogs have warned that quantum computing could eventually undermine cryptography securing blockchains. The EBA, EIOPA, and ESMA highlighted quantum computing among emerging technology risks in their latest update. Many cryptocurrencies rely on elliptic curve cryptography to protect transactions and wallet security. A sufficiently powerful quantum computer could theoretically use Shor’s algorithm to break this protection. Google researchers estimate the required resources are roughly 20 times lower than earlier estimates. However, the required quantum hardware does not currently exist. Blockchain developers are therefore exploring post-quantum cryptography before the technology becomes capable of such attacks.

🚨 CRYPTO: ALGORAND SURGES 16% IN 24 HOURS AFTER GOOGLE QUANTUM AI PAPER CITES $ALGO 32 TIMES AS POST-QUANTUM PIONEER Algorand ( $ALGO ) has jumped 16% in 24 hours to $0.1053 after Google Quantum AI's landmark paper on blockchain quantum vulnerabilities cited the network 32 times, more than any other chain besides Bitcoin and Ethereum. Google described Algorand as "the perfect example of real-world deployment of post-quantum cryptography on an otherwise quantum-vulnerable blockchain." The paper highlighted Algorand's live FALCON digital signatures for smart contracts, state proofs, native key rotation, and multi-layered post-quantum security infrastructure. Trading volume spiked 162% in 24 hours and futures open interest jumped 55% to $58.9 million. The rally is especially dramatic given ALGO hit an all-time low of $0.08 just days earlier following a 25% Foundation workforce cut, CTO departure, and board reshuffle. The token is now up ~20% on the week as the quantum narrative provided a lifeline to a battered community.

Dfinity Founder Pushes Back On Quantum Crypto Fears Dfinity (DFINITY Foundation) founder Dominic Williams (dom | icp) says the quantum threat is not an immediate danger to blockchains. He argued the industry will receive warning before cryptographically relevant quantum computers emerge. Williams said researchers would report major breakthroughs long before hackers gain access. He believes that window will give blockchains time to adopt quantum safe cryptography. The comments came in response to NEAR protocol's recent warning about quantum risks.

Seeing The Quantum World In Action! Ever wondered how particles pass through impossible barriers? This video provides a clear visualization of the Quantum Tunneling Effect, a fundamental phenomenon in quantum mechanics where a particle passes through a potential barrier that it classically could not surmount. Watch as the incident wave packet interacts with the potential barrier, resulting in both reflected and transmitted components. We break down the SchrĂśdinger equation and the formula for transmission probability. Perfect for students and physics enthusiasts looking to understand the wave-particle duality and the probabilistic nature of the subatomic world. #QuantumPhysics #Manim #Physics #QuantumMechanics #Schrodinger

‼️ALERT: ETHEREUM'S TOP 1,000 WALLETS COULD BE DRAINED IN NINE DAYS WITHOUT A QUANTUM UPGRADE Google's quantum research team warns that a future fast-clock quantum computer could compromise Ethereum's 1,000 highest-value accounts in less than nine days. Those accounts collectively hold approximately 20.5 million $ETH. Bitcoin users can avoid exposing their public keys. Ethereum users cannot. The moment an Ethereum user sends their first transaction, their public key is permanently exposed on the blockchain, according to the report. It stays exposed indefinitely. The paper identifies five distinct quantum attack vectors on Ethereum. Among the most alarming is the threat to smart contract admin keys. Those keys control over $200 billion in stablecoins and tokenised real-world assets. Ethereum's Proof-of-Stake consensus mechanism also relies on quantum-vulnerable BLS signatures. A sufficiently advanced quantum attacker could use this to compromise the blockchain's finality itself. There is a silver lining. The Ethereum Foundation is already researching post-quantum alternatives. The paper suggests this gives Ethereum a potential advantage over Bitcoin in executing an orderly transition to quantum-safe cryptography.
