I suppose the question would now be. Why only now ? And what about other injectables like HA?

Ouch. Not affecting me, but many colleagues. That is a shame. I get and don't get it. That's a decision that's been made, rather than something that makes sense.

We will continue to lobby in this area of course

The issue is the pace at which legislation change takes. Currently the changes required are sat with decision makers. I have a meeting with NHSE regularly. @SuzanneRastrick leads on this and does a fantastic job of keeping it on the radar and constantly pushes the agenda

That is a bombshell! Am I understanding this correctly that UK the prohibition against PTs using PRP is a legal/regulatory issue not a medical or scientific one? i.e. that tho' it may be safe & effective, PTs are not now legally able to to PRP injections?

That’s correct Mark. We don’t have the same exemptions at the moment under the manufacturing and marketing of medicines licence that medics do here. The MHRA (UK medicines regulator) confirmed earlier this week.

Where is the MHRA document on this? I suppose now all those pioneering injecting physios will go back to damaging tissue with CSIs? Is it not the CSPs role to defend & stand up for the rights of its advanced practicing members? The devil is always in the detail so let’s see it

It absolutely is our role to protect members which is why we communicated quickly when informed members were working outside of legal and regulatory frameworks. That’s not to say we won’t pursue how to rectify the situation but we cannot knowingly let members but themselves 1/2
