I decided to create a Netflix-quality TV show in my bedroom for TikTok. And after 25 million views & 250k new followers in just 2 months, I can now say it's working. The world of storytelling is changing. This is what this means for the future of social media stories 👇 A few months ago I decided to ignore all common wisdom & decided to approach social media completely differently. Instead of quantity, I was going to go for quality. Instead making dumb stuff, I was going to intellectually challenge them. I was going to make a Netflix-quality TV show from my bedroom: and now it's exploding. With only 9 videos posted, today not only it has 25 million views so far, it has thousands engaged dedicated fans. And the best part? I'm only 20% of the way done. Today, billions of dollars are being raised by companies to fill the internet with A.I. generated slop. On the human side, every day marketers are constantly trying to uncover the latest "viral trick" to trick audiences into watching their trash. But the success of these videos show that what people are yearning for high-quality, hand-crafted content that truly respects them. Content that dares to try to stand out not just through cheap tricks, but through beautiful & emotional stories. In the end, I look at short-form video as a cinematic medium like any other. And while viral tricks come and go, stories with substance are the only ones that become timeless. So as you start crafting your next video, truly ask yourself: will anyone remember this 5 minutes after they watch it? If they don't - you are probably focusing on the wrong things. Thank you to all my Patreons for supporting my work through the years - and Brilliant Labs for the cool open source technology that powers this series.

🚨 JAMIE DIMON WARNED OF THE BASEL III “ENDGAME” (DEC 2023) 🚨 This wasn’t random. Jamie Dimon knew banks were on the wrong side of precious metals, and that the paper system was not built for what’s coming. Basel III Endgame is the final phase of post-2008 banking reform. It tightens: • How banks calculate risk • How much capital they must hold • What qualifies as “high-quality” capital Physical gold is now Tier 1, but only if it’s REAL. Allocated. Delivered. Specific bars. In a vault. No counterparty risk. Paper promises don’t qualify anymore. Why this matters beyond gold 👇 Precious and base metals all run through the same: • Bullion banks • Derivative infrastructure • Rehypothecation model When physical delivery demand rises in one metal, stress spreads to all of them. Silver is the weakest link: • Extremely thin physical market • Heavily shorted via derivatives • Historically suppressed • High paper-to-physical ratios COMEX and LBMA are built on paper. Unallocated metal trades 100x+ larger than physical supply. They are not designed for sustained delivery demand. What stress looks like: • Backwardation • Delivery delays • Premium spikes on physical bars • Contract roll failures There is a real risk of delivery stress in silver this month and into March. Basel III Endgame doesn’t “end manipulation” overnight, it removes the leverage that made it possible. Paper only works when confidence does. That confidence is being tested.

Alexandr Wang on why Paul Graham’s “Schlep Blindness” essay was seminal for Scale AI “One of the secrets to Scale AI — and I think this applies to almost every industry — was that the problem we were solving of building really high quality data sets was something that most machine learning teams knew was very important but it wasn’t necessarily the sexiest problem that every AI scientist wanted to spend their days and nights working on.” Alexandr continues: “There was one article that was pretty seminal for me early on. It was an essay by Paul Graham called ‘Schlep Blindness.’ I’d encourage everyone to read it if you get a chance. But basically the idea was that most people avoid thinking about the really difficult, hairy, ugly, and annoying problems that exist in the world but they’re really important. He actually uses Stripe as one of the examples in his essay, but these problems are everywhere. The ugly, hairy problems that everyone knows are important but aren’t sexy to work on — if you can identify what those problems are, they generally make really exciting startup ideas.” This was a lot of the original pitch for Scale: “You know this is important but you probably aren’t the most excited to work on it.” And then the early Scale team was super scrappy, which helped them earn the trust of their customers: “They saw our product velocity and how fast we were moving. They thought to themselves, ‘Even if they don’t have the perfect product today, they’re going to get to a product that we’re going to be able to rely on really quickly.’” Source: Startup Grind (Apr 2022)
