China's Z-20T transport assault helicopter. Great for transporting troops with the added missiles and rocket firepower. They are the core of any PLA air assault formations. People often look at the Ukraine war, especially the battle of Hostomel airport, and claim helicopter air assaults are outdated. However, the major problem with Hostomel, was the lack of constant and accurate air support from the Russian air force. If the attacking side has air superiority and constant air support, then helicopter air assaults are extremely useful. There is nothing faster and more accurate than helicopter assaults, when it comes to moving infantry from point A to point B.

In the city of Xi’an, Shaanxi Province, the PLA Air Force held a military technology competition titled “Countering Drones - 2025.” The event is part of a major PLA Air Force program focused on developing counter-drone systems. Its goal is to stimulate technological innovation in this area and to shape a new generation of integrated air defense capabilities. A total of 109 teams from military units, research institutes, and civilian enterprises participated. They presented 144 projects, including interception systems, electronic warfare tools, detection systems, and autonomous control technologies. Forty-four interceptor drones underwent field testing - practical exercises in neutralizing unmanned aerial vehicles. Organizers emphasized that the purpose of the competition is to accelerate the integration of military and civilian technologies in drone warfare, create a platform for “military startups,” and identify promising solutions for rapid implementation in the armed forces.

During exercises in Guangdong, Type 05 amphibious engineering vehicles were deployed alongside engineer units to create passages and accelerate the movement of armored forces. China is not leaving the success of a major amphibious operation to ships and firepower alone — it is building the engineering capability needed to break through heavily fortified coastal defenses and keep the advance moving.

Small drones generate far less heat, making them much harder to detect and engage.
