Please do not do this. Parking under an overpass does not protect you from a tornado, and it blocks the entire highway for everyone behind you. It is incredibly dangerous for everyone involved.

Maybe they're protecting themselves from hail.

Maybe use the Flock cameras on these people.

If someone does this to you on the interstate during a storm you put your car on their bumper and move them out of the way.

What are you supposed to do? Drive into the tornado? This is the safest place they could get to protect their life.

Actually getting out of your vehicle and hiding in the top corner of the overpass can save your life.

Do you realize that up until you have stated that “it is unsafe” that the general public was told by all news media if you’re caught on the interstate to find an underpass park under it, get out of your car and get in the ditch. Literally is in our safety plan for our state.

I saw a video a few years ago where people got out of their cars under an over pass and went to the highest point underneath. The tornado actually went over the overpass and everyone was safe.

If it's so serious you should have that legislated. Try self governing, you might enjoy it.

Me and my identical twin brother were driving home (Elgin, 40 minutes west of Chicago) westbound, ended up driving into it head-on near the south side…unbelievable weather. Saw this on Max Velocity also. I’d say there’s a combined IQ there of 15

Be better prepared. There are so many radar apps out there. You can check the radar and if you see a storm assume it’s severe and stay off the roads or delay your trip for a few minutes. It could save your life and others.

THIS IS BULLSHIT! When a tornado is coming in your direction & you're on the interstate IT IS CLOSED ANYWAY! Had it not been for a bride, my dad & I would've been killed in (can't remember which) either 88 or 89 near Moore, OK.

Sorry, but parking under the overpass is better than trying to drive when you can't see anything on the highway. Also, gives protection from hail. I will do it every time if the weather is bad enough.
