Please submit your small ideas for fixing Britain to the website. It’s a new charitable initiative I’ve set up to try and make sure life’s potholes don’t get ignored. Working with two charities and a cross party panel to turn your ideas into policy then try and make it... show more

just submitted my idea to show petrol prices on google maps so i can save 2p a litre by driving 50 miles to a different petrol station

Make it a crime for politicians to lie. Make it illegal for them to have second jobs or carry out work as a consultant / contractor. They have 1 job and that’s all they should be focused on. Put a cap on expenses MPs can claim. They get paid enough.

Stop giving houses to a migrant who will live on benefits for rest of his life, plus his wife and children.

Have a word with burnham to stop playing with google maps and actually do something to help people

How about holding politicians who lie to account? That'll really reduce the pissed-off level in the country!

Scrap Net Zero. Close the borders. Easy.

Halve the number of staff in the public sector. Stop working from home for the public sector. The private sector pays their wages so should make the rules.

Here an idea get Labour call an election and stop this lunatic nonsense of theirs

Here’s an idea not sure if anyone has thought of it but due to the insane costs of petrol at the moment let’s not cut fuel tax, overseas aid or benefit aid. No, what if someone could add all the prices of petrol on google maps? That’ll really help! Can we do it?

This sounds about your level @andyburnham Tell him about the buses.

I will submit an uncomfortable idea. Freeze public sector pay/welfare increases and cap expenditure for the next 5 years in order to fund annual tax cuts. The private sector needs to catch up.

Theres no small fix for Brexit. My last order of violin supplies from Germany was refused by Royal Mail, I think cause it was under €160. HMRC needs to revise its policy for small value orders. There is no uk supplier for what I need.

How about turning it off and then on again?

stop changing the bloody clocks

Here’s a small idea stop paying millions of bonuses to supermarket bosses energy companies and fuel bosses.

Pathetic little tinkering to keep the plebs busy? Bizarre, pointless nonsense.

Hi Martin - we just want to say that we love the fact that you don't just advise, or just moan, about everyday financial matters, you actively try to change things for the better for all of our citizens. Keep up the amazing work you do!

Cut taxes. Cut welfare for people who WON'T work and/or "mild medical conditions." Stop with the net zero stupidity (especially given the UK impact across the world), thereby slashing energy bills. Fix illegal immigration. Problem solved 👍

Why do you use expletives Martin? It’s one of the things about modern life that annoys me. Unnecessary.

Honestly, because it's a social media video and I wanted to hook people in so you need a powerful start. I don't normally do it but the algorithm rewards a first three second watch.

What times we live in.. 😔

Compulsory solar panels on all new builds. About 20 years top late, but needs doing, including houses, warehouses etc, etc. And all car parks and warehouses already existing that don't have solar panels should be retro fitted.

Stop MPs claiming utilities bills on expenses. Make them pay out of their salary and experience how much it actually costs.

You're passing them onto Burnham for his tiktok policies aren't you? 😂

when the supermarkets do veg really cheaply at christmas, i believe that it should be mandatory for supermarkets to do this on a rota so that each and every week one supermarket is providing cheap veg to help people. it should be government mandatory. it would truly help people

LFG Martin!! 🙌

Ensure every home is given a solar panel.

I’d prioritize local budgeting for maintenance over new builds. Fixing the holes we have is harder than selling the promise of new ones.

Ever heard of fix my street!

Can we devise a formula which counts number of council / hsg assoc vacant properties to the number of families placed in them in a week.

How about making the state pension more sustainable by introducing a 10% death tax on 'all' estates and investing the money captured by that in a national pension fund. Invest the money in income generating national infrastructure, businesses, etc. Let the fund grow for a couple

1. Increase every tax rate by a small amount to cover government debt & below - 2. Ban the buy to let mortgage 3. Make some savings in benefit costs 4. Pay off student debt & cladding scandal remediation costs. Leave leasehold as is. 5. Start National care home scheme

When you say “charity” does that mean it is at least partially government funded?

No I have provided all the funding

Thank you.

Pleasure

Britain was broken, or some could argue killed, via a thousand different cuts. To 'fix' this country, at least to anything near to how it used to be, we'd need a thousand metaphorical plasters. Plasters that we no longer produce nor can we afford anymore.

Added a few But there is way to much to mention but I’m sure Martin you will have already covered most of them Big one must be Tax allowance raised to £20 k for working families self employed and Pensioners
