Poland did not block import from Russia or Belarus. At the same time Poland and a few other countries banned grain import from Ukraine a year ago (since March 15, 2023), but allowed transit. In fact, border crossings between Poland and Ukraine were effectively blocked since November. It includes not only grain, but other products. There were cases, when weapons, ammunition, and humanitarian aid were blocked as well. For comparison, Hungary, the least friendly EU country to Ukraine, did not block border crossings and even decided to open a new one. On the other hand, the amount of goods imported from Russia to Poland is relatively small. If we consider grain, it's 6 thousand tons in 2022 and 12 thousand tons in 2023. For comparison, Latvia has imported 380 thousand tons of grain from Russia in 2023.

You'd think Polish farmers would blockade such trade. After all, cheap ruskie grain impacts local market prices 🙂

"Ukrainska Pravda" is basically as reliable and truthful as "Russian Channel One" at this moment. It's soviet style propagand media.

Mykhailo Tkach, a journalist of Ukrainska Pravda media, went to the Polish border and conducted an investigation to find out the scale of trade turnover between Poland and Belarus. It turned out that while Ukrainian agricultural products are blocked at the border, Poland pays hundreds of millions to companies from Russia and Belarus for seeds, oil and animal feed. ▪️ Poland trades with Russia and Belarus, while Ukraine is banned even from transit. Ukrainian agricultural exports to Poland fell by 40% last year. In August, amid protests, Poland banned imports of wheat, corn, rapeseed and sunflower seeds from Ukraine, and in September, it added rapeseed cake and meal, corn bran, wheat flour and derivatives. Since April 2023, Ukrainian grain has been going through Poland only in transit. Despite this, protests at the border continue. There are about 6 thousand cars in line to leave Ukraine for Poland, and another 2 thousand to enter Poland Imports of agricultural products from Russia to Poland in 2023 reached $117 and exceeded the level of 2021, i.e. the level before the full-scale war. Poland purchased $55 million from Lukashenko, which also exceeds the profits of previous years. ▪️ "Disservice" to ourselves Poland not only continues to trade with the aggressor state and its satellite, but also increases imports of agricultural products. The situation already shows that the Poles have done a "disservice" to themselves, because Polish grain has been displaced by Russian grain on foreign markets. Russia, in turn, has increased its exports by stealing Ukrainian grain, among other things. ▪️ Playing on dislike of Ukrainians Some Polish pro-Russian politicians purposefully make Ukrainians public enemies. They are allegedly destroying the Polish economy and have allegedly been ungrateful in response to Poles' help after the Russian invasion. However, it is worth realizing that refusal to cooperate with Ukraine will deprive Polish farmers themselves of many opportunities. Polish companies that are already present on the Ukrainian market and those that could be on it will be left with nothing. 📹: Economic Pravda editor Dmytro Denkov
