cosmic is frustratingly bad in it's current form. Maybe I should have waited till January or stuck with gnome. 💀 cosmic store -> crash prone, crashes constantly. cosmic files -> no "run as program" for .sh file enjoyers cosmic files -> can't organize bookmarks cosmic files -> can't adjust sidebar width cosmic files -> file spacing and readability feels off on all settings. Desktop icons are cloned on all monitors. 99.9% of .desktop files are not broken links. Impossible to turn off cursor follows focus feature. Making my mouse teleport around the screens. log in screen on all monitors. Inconsistent cursor icons from flatpak to deb. Random freeze on log in screen. (can't see cursor/can't log in) Wallpaper slide show setting is handled poorly. No mouse button mapping support. Cosmic Text Editor might be the worst text editor I have ever used. Honestly shocked this made the cut. I might be entitled. I expected a smoother experience for the release version from this team and instead I feel like I am bug testing for a student project. Hopefully most of this shit gets sorted out soon.

@carlrichell @system76 The upgraded tiling system is awesome! As a minimalist, tiles help to control the clutter and create desktops for specific tasks. Ability to remove animations, shadows,etc for speed would be an awesome addition. ❤️ PopOS! and the 76 hardware.

@carlrichell @system76 I've downloaded and installed Pop! OS 24.04 (over #LMDE). But many apps in COSMIC Store are generally not up-to-date. Yes, some of them have Flatpak alternatives but I do not prefer Flatpak. Sorry but I still love #LMDE @Linux_Mint Debian Edition.

@carlrichell @system76 Thanks! I want Caps Lock to toggle keyboard layouts (e.g. US/RU input sources), like grp:caps_toggle in XKB. See this open issue: Here's a KDE screenshot showing the exact setting I mean:

@carlrichell @system76 The current shortcut for that is Super + Space. There's no way to set it to just CapsLock at the moment since custom shortcuts require two keys, but something like Super + Caps Lock would work!

Congrats! Honestly, when I heard you were writing a new DE from scratch in Rust, with Iced no less, I was skeptical, esp. being familiar with the state these things were in at the time. But here we are, and you delivered and honest it kinda looks amazing. Well done, quite an accomplishment!

@carlrichell @system76 great thank you for your hardwork i'm still using the beta release and will not upgrade to this, because kernel 6.17.4 is brick my laptop and give timeout on boot (it's not boot up) i think the issue was the micron ssd or intel iris XE currently stay with 6.16

@carlrichell @system76 Hi, I'm having a problem. I upgraded to an RTX 5060 and now I can't install PopOS! The screen goes black, the RTX fans are very noisy, and I can't access the clean installation of the operating system. Is there any solution to start the installation?

@carlrichell @system76 Can't type Japanese with Fcitx5 + Mozc in Cosmic Text editor and Terminal. This issue hasn't fixed since the initial release. Hope System76 listen to 2-byte language users.
