While anti-Sharaa crowd keeps claiming that "Jolani is massacring Christians", the Vatican's ambassador to #Syria toured today Christian villages in W. #Idlib, amid the continued return of residents to the area. During the visit, the Vatican flag was raised with the Syrian flag at a local (Latin) Church in presence of Government officials. Few weeks ago, the first Christian collective prayer - in 14 years - was held in the nearby countryside of Latakia (see below).

And it wouldn’t have been relevant if not for Andy Burnham, having resurrected that man in a post-liberated Syria context as somebody who was on the wrong side of the Syria civil war. And now he’s in charge of our country’s foreign policy. And we now have relations with the new Syria government, who will know and remember Ed Miliband’s position against them in supporting their tyrant Assad when he was quelling the popular Syrian uprising.”

Billed as the 'experience of a lifetime', here is a video published by a 'Zionist' school in Brent, London on its pupils trip to Israel. The whole video is below in case it disappears from YouTube. The school, JFS, has been running these trips for 'over 40 years' and it says they promote 'the values and ethos of JFS including the ideals of Zionist Modern Orthodoxy.' The school they visit is based in a city called Hod HaSharon built on land that was taken from the Palestinians by Jewish settlers in the 1920s and 1930s. The school is supported by the Jewish National Fund the Israeli land theft agency and 'national institution'. Amongst the teachers at the school in 'Israel' there are English settler-colonists from London, Sunderland and Bristol. According to one of the teachers in the video: 'They [The visiting students] fall in love with the country'. When they are taught that they have a right to be there, is it any wonder that inculcating racist views are the price and indeed the point of these trips? #DismantleZionism

Some time ago, Syrian President Ahmed Al-Sharaa said he would not visit the Damascus countryside unless the Syrian army commander Essam al-Buwaydhani detained in the UAE was with him. After a year of his detention in the UAE, the Syrian president made an official visit to the UAE and brought Essam al-Buwaydhani with him on the same presidential plane after the UAE released him. Today, he visited the Damascus countryside accompanied by commander Essam al-Buwaydhani. Al-Buwaydhani was arrested by the UAE after visiting his relatives there following the fall of the Assad regime. On the last day of our pilgrimage in the Holy Land, praying with Patriarch Theophilos III and Archbishop Hosam in the Church of the Holy Sepulchre was the most profound gift. Jerusalem is the city from which the Gospel first went out into the world, and to which our Lord will one day return. The Churches of this holy city are custodians of a living Christian presence in the very place where the foundations of our faith were laid. My prayer is that, by God’s grace, we may continue to grow together into that unity for which Christ prayed. That we may bear witness together to the hope of the Gospel. And that we may offer to this city, to the Holy Land, and to the world, a foretaste of the peace of God’s coming Kingdom. Please pray for the peace of Jerusalem, and for the Christians of the Holy Land.

I want to share this video from my trip to Syria two weeks ago to give you an idea of what half of the country looks like and more of an understanding of how beyond absurd it is for President Trump to say that Syria should take on Hezbollah. Aside from Syria being utterly physically and economically shattered, there is also the fact that it too is currently being occupied by Israel, who started bombing and grabbing more land the minute the regime of Bashar al-Assad fell. Worth remembering that the former Syrian regime, despite being part of the “axis” kept its border with Israel pretty quiet. Odd dynamic I know, but yes the old Syria facilitated the movement of weapons to Hezbollah while at the same time had a quiet deal with Israel and the US. As a senior official said to me back in those years, its better the devil we know who will stick to the status quo with Israel. Since al-Sharaa toppled the Assad regime, Israel has been regularly bombing and grabbing more Syrian land under that good old “national security” argument, even though al-Sharaa has repeatedly stated that he has no intention of attacking Israel and has in fact been rather passive on Israel’s actions. And yes he, the current government, many Syrians might hate Hezbollah for the role they played in propping up Bashar al-Assad and fighting with the former regime, but the sheer ludicrousness of suggesting they trot over to Lebanon and get rid of Hezbollah to help Israel is mindblowing, and not just from the Syria side but also can you imagine what Israel would do if the people whose military capabilities its bombing and “weakening” in Syria just showed up on its border with Lebanon?

According to Hijab, on July 21, 2012, after the Syrian uprising had spread, Bashar al Assad ordered Syrian government forces to withdraw from large parts of northern Syria, particularly in the northeast. March 15 has become a symbol of Syrian will; it is the day Syrians chose to move from demanding reforms that no one listened to, to a comprehensive demand for complete democratic change for all pillars of the Assad regime, from the dictator to the last henchman. Despite the repression faced by the Hamidiyah demonstration in its first minutes and the arrest of several participants, the message had been delivered.
