On this day, 40 years ago, Oliver Stone's "Salvador" (1986) starring James Woods premiered at the Santa Barbara Film Festival, California, USA. Oliver Stone on the scenes he had to sacrifice to get "Salvador" (1986) made: "Interviewer: Were there scenes you had to sacrifice to get Salvador made? Stone: I pulled back quite a bit from a lot of heavier stuff. I pulled a lot of the violence out of it. We weakened a lot in the story. The picture was two hours. It was originally supposed to be two-and-a-half hours. But I couldn’t get that version played, so I cut ruthlessly. So this version is a bit choppy — it’s been criticized for being choppy —and they’re right. It’s lumpy There are scenes that are abruptly cut: the scene where the Colonel saves Boyle’s [James Woods] ass, and they all go back into the whorehouse together —in my script that scene develops into an orgy. A Borges-type scene. I wanted it to go from darkness to light. I wanted to have that crazy South American mix of black humor with tragedy. I wanted to play with absurdity as an idea. I had this tremendous scene: Dr. Rock is getting a blow job under a table, Boyle is f**king a girl while trying to pry information from the Colonel, and the Colonel is so drunk out of his mind that he pulls out this bag of ears and throws the ears on a table and says... “Left-wing ears, right-wing ears, who gives a f**k?” He throws the ears into a champagne glass and proposes a toast to El Salvador and drinks the champagne with an ear in it." Yves via Billboard France on Instagram Reels “Back when I first started as a solo artist, I had a lot of meetings with different companies, and there were also certain perceptions from the public. I heard a lot of things like, “It’s hard to succeed as a soloist”, or “You only did well because you were in a group”. Hearing that so often really affected my self-esteem, and I think I had a strong desire to prove myself to those people. But now, I try to see those perspectives as a form of interest and accept them with gratitude. By taking in different kinds of feedback, I feel like my mindset has shifted to enjoying the process itself. I think I’m able to work with less stress and more happiness now. These days, the K-pop industry is changing very quickly, and so are the systems within entertainment companies. When I was promoting with LOONA, it felt like our role was mainly to carry out concepts that the company had already decided for us. But now, it feels like artists are much more involved and have an environment where they can actively participate and create something more creatively. When I first finished working on the song ‘NAIL’, I had already recorded the full version myself. It sounded good, but I kept thinking that if I collaborated with another artist and created synergy, the song could become even richer. The company agreed with that idea, so we started thinking about who would be a good fit to collaborate with. Around that time, we actually received a collaboration e-mail from Lolo Zouaï first. I listened to the demo she sent, and there were so many unexpected melodies that we hadn’t even imagined. In the end, we scrapped our original second verse and fully incorporated Lolo Zouaï’s demo into the track, creating the song together. Through that process, seeing how she came up with melodies we hadn’t thought of made me realize, ‘Oh, you can approach top lines like this’, and ‘You can play with rhythm in this way too’. I was able to learn a lot, and I’m really grateful for that experience”

🚨WOW!!! A lady in Tennessee is being hailed as a HERO after she rescued a KIDNAPPED 12-year-old girl as she came running out of the woods, barefoot and covered in scratches, and collapsed into a ditch on the side of the highway, attempting to escape. Cars kept driving past her. One woman looked in her rearview mirror and thought: somebody will stop for that baby. ...BUT NOBODY DID!!! So she turned around. 🇺🇸 Her name is Jennifer Maxwell. She was driving home from her job as a healthcare caregiver on Sunday afternoon, on US-421 in Erwin, North Carolina. That's when she saw a little girl come out of the treeline, run down the embankment, and drop into the ditch, sobbing. Jennifer slowed down. She watched her mirror. She waited for somebody else to do something. Not one car stopped. So she turned her vehicle around, pulled up, and rolled down her window. "Baby, are you okay?" And the little girl said: "No. I've been kidnapped." Jennifer asked if she was serious. She was serious. She had no shoes on. Just a big T-shirt and shorts. Her arms and legs were torn up with scratches from running through the brush. She had been walking in those woods for TWO HOURS. Investigators say the man kept pushing her, grabbing her by the shoulder, forcing her to keep moving deeper into the trees. That 12-year-old girl got away from him ON HER OWN. She ran. She made it to the road. And then she needed one adult in America to stop the car. Jennifer got her inside, locked the doors, and called 911. She drove her straight to the Erwin Police Department. Then she took deputies BACK to the spot where she found her, so they could search the right woods. They found him in the treeline that night. Daniel Francis Gear, 38. Charged with first-degree kidnapping and assault on a female. Bond set Monday at $2.5 MILLION. She won't take the word hero. "I just thank God that I was there, cause if it was my daughter, I'd want someone to be there also." BE THE ONE WHO TURNS AROUND!!!! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

On the topic of our kids having AI friends (long) I got my 6yo Daughter an AI toy for her b-day that arrived for Xmas instead. She unpacked it all excited, I explained that this isn't like other toys, that this one has AI in it (she of course knows what AI is, seen the things I've built and interacted with them, chatted with chatGPT and Santa mode, knows that daddy is "doing AI" etc') So a very interesting experiment happened after @_magicaltoys reached out and fixed the issue referenced below (very quick turnaround! thank you!) So...she played with this Dino, chatted with it, and then... learned to turn it off, and doesn't want it to talk anymore. She still loves playing with it, dressed it up, it now has paper shoes and a top hat that we made together, but every time I ask her if she'd like to chat with it, she says no. The few times I turned it back on, and she did speak with it, she chatted for a bit, and then just... turned it off again, not wanting to engage at all. I gently asked why, and wasn't able to really understand where's the resistance, it's not weird to her. In fact, at one point she was pretending the dino was a baby, and it was turned on, so I told her, let's ask it to.. pretend to be a baby, and it obliged and said ok. So we asked it to cry. Granted @_magicaltoys don't yet have the amazing advanced voice mode like openAI in there, so it did it's best but it sounded weird, which made her laugh really hard. it was basically making crying sounds like talking. And also, there are some technical issues still, the voice is sometimes choppy, so it could be that it's still uncanny for her? I'm honestly fascinated about why the AI aspect of this toy didn't connect with my 6yo (and btw, I have a very curious 4yo boy, who could give 0 fucks about this toy also, he's very observant, and usually wants everything his sister has, wanted 0 time with Dino) Is this uncanny valley? a couple of times she didn't want to talk to it, and came to me to whisper to ask me to turn it off (the same happened a couple of times with chatGPT Santa mode btw now thinking about it) Is this just now knowing what to say? 🤔 It could be the simple fact that she was playing with some other things, and the toy kept wanting to engage and take the attention to itself vs the game that she was playing. I know that I have a sample size of 1 kid here, and I'm sure many many things will change, as she'll grow and learn to interact with more AIs in different forms, but the first "toy" contact was interestingly almost a complete failure (from the AI perspective, the Toy experience as I said, was dope) Anyway, this area is def unexplored, will keep you guys posted how this goes and if she shows interest or picks it up again.

[Eng] #EngfaWaraha #อิงฟ้ามหาชน P’Mook talking about that day that Engfa slipped on set. : It was an important scene in the series. Earlier, it had been raining, and we were filming in a traditional Thai house. I knew the crew was being extremely careful about safety. By “extremely careful,” I mean they wiped the floor dry over and over again. But since it was a traditional Thai house, and she was wearing shoes while walking, you know. We were shooting with a wide-angle camera, so I couldn’t stand close to her (though I wasn’t that far away either). Then, at one point during the take, she started walking a little faster. It was the very last take of that scene because we’d already finished filming all the other camera angles. Then… she slipped!! The first thing that crossed my mind was her hand because she instinctively put it out to break her fall. The floor where she fell was like 2 steps, and one of her legs hit the higher step. Thankfully, the actor who was in the same scene with her caught her in time, so the hand she put down didn’t take her full body weight. That’s why only her leg ended up getting injured. Can you believe that the moment it happened, everyone rushed over like zombies? We all swarmed in, the director, the assistant directors, the crew… everyone. I even jumped over a little table that was in the way to get to her. The first thing I asked was, “Are you okay? How do you feel? Does it hurt a lot? Can you move?” I had to ask because if she’d said she couldn’t move at all, we would’ve needed to provide a different kind of first aid. But she said, “It hurts,” while still laughing at herself. The crew quickly brought over some ice to help with the injury. And can you believe the very first thing she said was, “P’Mook, go ask for the video clip!” 😂 She was still joking because she had no idea how badly it was going to bruise the next day.

Yeji had a terrifying nightmare on the plane🥹🫳 🐈‍⬛: On the plane, I had a nightmare. The flight was about three hours and forty minutes, and I thought I could sleep for around two hours. I usually sleep with headphones on, but sometimes my ears hurt and feel a bit swollen, so I asked the flight attendant for earplugs and slept with those instead. Then my ears started hurting—you know, like in those cliché scenarios. In the dream, the plane suddenly had a major problem. It was shaking really badly, and I woke up scared. When I opened my eyes, I saw warning lights flashing, life jackets and everything had fallen down, and they said the plane was going to crash—it was malfunctioning and going down. 🐈‍⬛: I was seriously terrified, so so scared. I just sat there, and my mind started racing wildly. Since we were about to crash, I might die—I kept wondering, "Will it hurt? How will it happen? Will there be an explosion?" And since the windows were closed, I didn’t know where we’d crash—on land or in the sea? But for some reason, I just felt like it would be into the ocean. My mind flashed to some people and things, sorry but I didn’t really get to think anything through. I really couldn’t think of anything—just, "Ah, am I going to die?" Looking back now, it felt way too real in the dream. 🐈‍⬛: But honestly, it was the first time in a dream where I felt like my life was really in danger. So I kept thinking, "How much will it hurt? Where will we crash?" I kept going over that, and then the plane really did crash into the water. At first, the impact wasn’t as bad as I expected, but the plane started sinking slowly. I was sitting toward the back, but I can’t swim well, my lung capacity isn’t great, and being in the water feels awful. I tried to get out at the very last moment, but the exit was already underwater. I had to hold my breath and swim out from there. Halfway through, I was running out of air—I almost died for real. Then, like a miracle, someone pulled me up. I don’t know who it was. And suddenly, the scene changed to the fan signing event the next day.

13 years ago, a 20-year-old woman came home from her part-time job, changed into a crumpled green t-shirt she found on her bedroom floor, sat in front of her webcam, and recorded a video that would follow her for the rest of her life. Laina Morris had entered a fan contest run by pop star Justin Bieber. He’d asked fans to record their own version of his song “Boyfriend” from a girlfriend’s perspective. Morris decided to make hers as unsettling as possible. She wrote lyrics about taping a recording device under her boyfriend’s sleeve and stealing the key to his house. To fill time before the song started, she stared into the camera without blinking, eyes wide open, with a fixed smile. She didn’t win the contest. But a friend screenshotted her face from the video and uploaded it to the internet. By the next morning, her expression had become one of the most shared memes in the world: “Overly Attached Girlfriend.” People added captions like “Took you 15 minutes to get home. Google Maps says 12. Who is she?” Morris leaned in. She built a YouTube channel, landed brand deals with major companies, appeared on late-night television, and turned the meme into a full-time career with over a million subscribers. Then in 2019, she posted a video called “Breaking Up With You…Tube” and walked away. She said she’d been battling depression since 2014 and had been keeping it a secret. “I felt ashamed and I felt guilt for being stressed and overwhelmed with a job and opportunities that were so great. I didn’t understand why I couldn’t handle it.” She’s 33 now. Lives quietly with her dogs. In a recent interview, she was asked if the meme still follows her on dates. She said one date ended early after the person realised who she was, spent the rest of dinner texting people about it, and left saying, “I can’t believe I just went on a date with the Overly Attached Girlfriend.” What’s something from your past that people still associate with you, even though you’ve moved on?

What does the Pain Cave look like? It looks like Powerline Climb at mile 80 of Leadville, with pitches over 20% grade at nearly 11,000 feet altitude. What does it sound like? For me, it sounds like Megan saying “I am so proud of you” over and over. Before last year, every Leadville record attempt was scuttled around Powerline. It’s just so hard to run that high for that long, and the GOATs of the past are the GOATs for a reason (even if they didn’t have our advantages of high carb, bicarb, and plated shoes). In 2024, I barely survived the climb, almost passing out at the top. In 2025, though, I had a not-so-secret secret: Megan is the best coach in the world. She started pacing me at mile 77, and I went silent. I knew the Pain Cave was coming. It’s dark. It’s scary. It’s where I failed so emphatically at Western States. Megan’s voice filled the silence. “I’m so proud of you.” “I love you.” “We’re making history.” “I”m just talking, don’t respond.” I went stealth mode before the race, only telling a few loved ones that I was doing it. My goal was to absolutely obliterate myself, and to share love while doing it. Or, as Megan told me before the start line: “time to redecorate the Pain Cave.” So what does the Pain Cave feel like? The easiest way to describe it is a deep part of your brain screams STOP STOP STOP, a signal from billions of years of evolution. It feels more reptile than human. Megan countered that screaming with love. She bedazzled the the Pain Cave. We put 7+ minutes on my 2024 ghost in the final 23 miles (and infinity minutes on my Western States ghost, who is still panicking somewhere outside Foresthill). 100 milers will always be a trip into the Pain Cave. Megan helped me rediscover that the blood and tears that inevitably splatter all over the walls can be used to paint a big, bright heart ❤️ Coach Vince Lombardi famously said that “Winning isn’t everything. It’s the only thing.” Utter BS. I have the best coach in the world, and she taught me the truth: “Love isn’t everything. It’s the only thing.” ♥️💜💙🧡 Video by brilliant Director Cody Bare! Full documentary coming in September!

ARMCHAIR WITH JANJINGJING #ARMCHAIRคุยเล่นเอาจริง #JanJingjing (the most memorable scene) 🐯: i’d choose the pajama scene where we cried together 🎤: (the footage is coming up. is it the same scene [that jan chose]?) 🐯: it’s a different scene, but it’s in the same episode, ep8. because this scene was one of the first scenes we got to do a drama scene together. and i’m someone who puts a lot of pressure on myself. for acting, my acting teacher once said, “if you try hard to make it good with too much determination, it won’t come out well.” 🎤: trying too hard 🐯: trying too hard 🎤: it goes beyond the right amount 🐯: yes, trying too hard. it blocks everything in my body and doesn’t allow what’s inside to flow out. i’m someone who tends to pressure myself, so i kept telling myself, “i want to do it well” but the more i thought like this, it created more and more pressure. i blocked myself more, and the less i was able to do it 🎤: (it sounds very tough; it’s like meditating. you want to be calm but the mind isn’t) 🐯: the more i thought like that, the voices in my head were fighting each other more. the more they fought each other, my focus on the character slipped away 🎤: (“the harder you try, the worse it gets”) 🐯: yes, and the more i overthought, “i have to do this and this. it has to come out well.” but i forgot to actually be wine. at that time, when i was filming with p’jan, they filmed p’jan’s angle first. and when it came to me, i couldn’t act 🎤: like filming your face? 🐯: yes, p’jan’s side was shot first. when it was my turn to film me, i couldn’t act. the director came over and told me, “i don’t think it’s there yet.” that made me feel even more pressure. i went and sat by myself on set, sitting there crying. p’jan came to comfort me. she came over and… p’jan is such a talented person, because we acted many takes, but p’jan cried like that for me in every take to feed me the emotion when the camera was on me 🎤: do you remember how many takes it took? 🐯: that scene was very long 🦊: we probably filmed for around 4-5 hours for this scene 🎤: (the scene was a few minutes long, but 4-5 hours. it’s not only about saying the lines, but the emotions had to be there too. how did you get through it, jingjing?) 🐯: i was trying, and p’jan tried encouraging me and came and hugged me. so i was like, “nope! the slower it goes, the more pressure i would feel. everyone on set is waiting for me.” that just made me more pressured. i put a lot of pressure on myself. eventually, i thought, “forget it! however it turns out, so be it! i tried to stop paying attention to everything around me and focus only on “i’m k’wine, and how much i love k’lal” the acting coach and assistant director tried getting me into the scene, telling me to remember that i had to be k’wine. i thought about how much k’wine loves k’lal. once i started getting rid of my own stress and tried getting back into k’wine again, i finally was able to do the scene 🎤: (magic moment about getting unstuck from stumbling) 🐯: yes. this was the scene where p’jan told me, “no matter how many takes, p’ can do it for you.” honestly, this scene made us build a better understanding of each other regarding work 🎤: you’re very lucky to have someone next to you who understands you 🦊: i knew that she was stressed, and that this is how she gets [when stressed]. so i said, “don’t stress! i’ll do it for you! we’ll keep going until we get it. don’t be afraid.”

DRUGGED. STRIPPED and she says RAPED in a police cell. By the very officers meant to protect her. The doctors found her symptoms matched a date-rape drug. She was locked in that cell. So who gave it to her. The CCTV that could prove it? Four and a half hours, VANISHED. In the hands of the force she's accusing. Three and a half years on. Not one officer charged. No justice and it all happened in Andy Burnham's Manchester. His police. His watch. The man who says he should be your next PRIME MINISTER. Can't fix one cell in his own city. Wants to run the whole country. This is Zayna Iman and this is hard to watch. First, what she took, and what she didn't, because someone always tries that first. That evening she'd taken cocaine. A friend rang 999, worried. The police came to her home. That's all she did. At the door she knocked the glasses off a female officer's face, was arrested for it, and taken to a cell. Here's what matters. Cocaine doesn't do what happened to her next. The doctors were clear. Her symptoms matched a date-rape drug. GHB, or something like it. A completely different substance. She didn't walk in with that in her. She was behind a locked cell door. She couldn't have taken it herself. Someone inside that station gave it to her. Then the police said she'd had a psychotic episode. Except her medical records show no history of mental illness. The doctors said her belief she'd been drugged and raped was NOT delusional. It fit exactly what she described. A former Greater Manchester Police chief superintendent has said, out loud, that he believes her. She isn't the only one. Since she spoke, more than a dozen other women have come forward about this same force. Then there's the footage. On camera, you see her carried in and strip-searched. Then, for the hours that matter most, the screen goes black. The story kept changing. It existed. It was corrupted. It can't be recovered. She says four and a half hours are gone. They admit two. Either way, the proof vanished in the hands of the accused. And Burnham? She contacted him in 2021, two months after she got out. Silence, she says, until 2023, when she waived her anonymity and public outcry forced his hand. Only then did he move. An inquiry into how police treat women in custody. Except the woman at the centre of it says nobody from that inquiry properly spoke to her. Stonewalled. Gaslit. Her words. Nobody's been charged. The investigation still crawls on. Say that plainly. But strip it back. A woman took cocaine and needed help. She ended up drugged with something else entirely, in a cell, in the care of the state and the cameras went dark exactly when it mattered. If it can happen to her, and the proof can just disappear, it can happen to anyone the police put in a cell. Your daughter. Your sister. You. Three and a half years. Still no answers. And the man who moved only when the country was watching wants the keys to the whole country. Ask yourself what he does when nobody's filming.

Over the years, many of you have joined me in celebrating this truly special girl turned young woman, Maddie. I am heartbroken to share with you that Maddie has passed away at the age of 21. I’m sharing a glimpse into my friendship with Maddie because I want people to know how truly special she was. I met Maddie when Kevin and I were filming Kevin Can Wait. Make-A-Wish America reached out and told us that a young girl’s wish was to meet us. I was so touched. This beautiful little girl was a fan of King of Queens? And we of course said yes. Maddie and her family came to visit us on set, and what started as a meet-and-greet turned into a real, almost decade-long, lasting friendship. Maddie would text me almost every day. She sent me funny videos, shared stories about her life, and came out to LA with her family, where I attempted to get her to expand her palate (though she always circled back to her favorite, a Caesar salad). We shared many beautiful moments that have kept me positive in moments of difficulty and darkness, and she was about to come to LA again, where I planned on celebrating her for her birthday and her recent accomplishments. Maddie had Spinal Muscular Atrophy type two (SMA), but she never let it define her. She was excited to begin advocacy work and had recently told me she was officially going to start speaking publicly about her experiences, not even for herself, but to help others. She had big dreams, and I was so proud watching her grow into the leader I always knew she was. Maddie loved her family and friends fiercely. For her young age, she would prefer to be with friends and family, playing games and our favorite, Phase 10. She loved all things girly: nails, hair, makeup, the Timberwolves. And she hated snow (though she lived in Minnesota), and more importantly, she loved helping people. She wrote me love notes daily, and I only hope I had let her know how much joy she brought me. It is me who hopes that she knew how much I loved her. I received this text from her friend Emma, whom I knew from the many funny videos Maddie sent me of the two of them. I’ve included it below. After flying to Minnesota to say goodbye (although she had already passed while I was in the air), I wanted her to know what she meant to me. That she was thinking of me in this way and wanted me to have the things she mentioned, that she cared so much, is also truly touching and heartbreaking. Maddie had so much life ahead of her. Her disease didn’t stop her spirit or dim her light. She was hopeful, brilliant, and genuinely excited for her future. I will miss her texts, her videos, and hearing from her every day. They always made me smile. I will miss her humor and the light she brought into this world every single day. Maddie had just turned 21. Her little body just couldn’t contain the big, beautiful life she was living. She was a force, taken too soon. If you feel moved, it would mean the world to her to support the cause she believed in so passionately: finding a cure for spinal muscular atrophy. Link to support Cure SMA is in my bio.
