Preah Vihear Temple has been destroyed by Thai shelling during this new round of fighting between Cambodia and Thailand. A UNESCO World Heritage site has been lost. This is not collateral damage. It is the destruction of irreplaceable cultural heritage during an active conflict.

A 3,000-year-old piece of human history is gone. Israeli airstrikes have severely bombed and damaged the ancient, UNESCO World Heritage site in Tyre, Lebanon. 🚨 Irreplaceable Ancient History Destroyed in Tyre AirstrikesA catastrophic loss for global cultural heritage is unfolding in southern Lebanon. Intense Israeli bombardment targeting the coastal city of Tyre has directly struck and heavily damaged its world-renowned archaeological ruins, which date back over three millennia to the Phoenician and Roman empires. The ancient city of Tyre is a protected UNESCO World Heritage site, celebrated globally for its historic hippodrome, monumental triumphal arches, and ancient ruins. Historians, archaeologists, and cultural preservationists worldwide are expressing absolute horror and outrage, stating that the destruction of irreplaceable global heritage violates international treaties protecting cultural property during armed smoke rises over the ancient ruins, international bodies are facing intense pressure to step in, condemn the strikes, and protect what remains of humanity's shared history before it is completely erased. 👇 Should destroying UNESCO World Heritage sites be classified as an international war crime? Right now, as Russians continue to strike #Kyiv with over a dozen of ballistic missiles, the Dormition Cathedral of Kyiv‑Pechersk Lavra — a UNESCO World Heritage site and priceless cultural landmark — has been struck and is burning. A brutal assault on our people and our heritage. This is the true face of Russia’s Orthodox values.

A new war is approaching: Heavy fighting broke out on the border between Thailand and Cambodia, — CNN. The Royal Cambodian Army shelled several Thai border towns with multiple rocket launchers. In response, Thailand closed its border with Cambodia because of these attacks. Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet said the shelling was in response to actions by the Thai army near temples in the provinces of Oddar Meanchey, Preah Vihear, and Ubon Ratchathani. At least one civilian was killed, and seven soldiers were injured by gunfire and artillery fire. Fighting was reported at six locations along the disputed border with northeastern Thailand. The Thai army said it carried out airstrikes on two Cambodian military installations. Relations between the two countries have escalated in recent months due to an armed conflict in territory claimed by both sides. The conflict is part of a decades-long border dispute, particularly over the Preah Vihear temple. Similar clashes occurred in 2008 and 2011.

Russia brutally struck the central part of Lviv, a city of exceptional cultural value and UNESCO World Heritage Site. Damage was caused to the UNESCO World Heritage. I urge UNESCO Director-General Khaled El-Enany to immediately respond to this crime in the strongest terms. Ukraine will use all available mechanisms to protect our cultural heritage and ensure accountability. Russia’s brutal violations of international law must be met with accountability. Not only the center, but also residential areas of Lviv have been struck. Throughout the day, Russia is terrorising many cities accross Ukraine with swarms of “Shahed” drones: Lviv, Ternopil, Vinnytsia, Ivano-Frankivsk, Zhytomyr, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipro, and others. There are damages and casualties among civilians. Russia is doing exactly what the Iranian regime is doing in the Middle East, but in the middle of Europe. Russia proves its status of a terrorist state. And this is how it must be dealt with — through strength, not weakness, and increased pressure on all fronts.

I’ve never been to a more beautiful Race Track. Santa Anita Park is more than a racetrack; it’s a living piece of history that deserves protection. Its architectural beauty, racing legacy, and cultural significance make it an irreplaceable asset to California. By safeguarding Santa Anita Park, the state not only preserves a piece of its heritage but also ensures that this “Great Race Place” continues to inspire and entertain for generations to come.
