Why aren’t firefighting aircraft used all the time on wildfires? Firefighting aircraft are essential in slowing wildfire spread and supporting ground crews. However, high winds can limit the effectiveness of water and retardant drops, dispersing them before they reach their target. Strong winds also increase risks for pilots and crews. Safety and strategy always come first! 🚁🔥 Want to learn more about CAL FIRE’s world-renowned aviation program, visit #WildfireAwareness #FirefightingAircraft #WildfireSafety #AerialFirefighting
