“President Thabo Mbeki is making an ideological mistake that we’re not showing gratitude for African nations that hosted us during exile. But if anything, less than 60000 South Africans went to (legal) exile all over the world, now we have 3 million undocumented immigrants and it’s wrong.” - Floyd Shivambu

Thabo Mbeki pretends to be a Pan-Africanist today, but it was his administration that required every African to have a visa to enter South Africa. Under his leadership, dark-skinned people (including South Africans) were stopped in the streets of Johannesburg and asked to provide dompass (passports and IDs). If they didn't have them or forgot them at home, they were arrested, sent to Lindela, and deported. Even South Africans were often deported to Beitbridge for not having an ID while being dark-skinned and unable to speak a Nguni language. Under Thabo Mbeki we saw the greatest number of arrests and deportations of African immigrants. I myself was once arrested and detained at Parkview police station for forgetting my passport. Even when it was brought to the police station in just an hour, I was left in the cell for 8 hours until the next morning, just to punish the kwerekwere in me. So, it was under Thabo Mbeki's administration that African immigrants were criminalized in South Africa. Dudula is merely following the blueprint of hate and prejudice left by Thabo Mbeki. I don’t know why our leaders accept this Askari to pretend to be a Pan African. #ThaboMbekiIsAToolOfImperialism
