Pressure feels like a film out of the ‘90s that’s not designed to win awards or break box office records. This is just a damn good movie worthy of your time.

Paul Rudd is excellent in his new release Power Ballad (🌟🌟🌟). In my full review below, I explain why I think this movie is more than worth your time & how much I enjoy the story here. Not to mention Rudd & Nick Jonas are each really good. 100% recommend this film and think it was worth watching.

The Gentlemen is Guy Ritchie at his best. I forced myself to revisit this film as a reminder that yes, Ritchie can actually make a good film. This after I nearly collapsed from boredom after watching Ritchie’s newest release In the Grey (🌟🌟) featuring Jake Gyllenhaal and Henry Cavill. In the Grey is not good. You can’t make that statement about The Gentlemen. This film’s release was really impacted by COVID, but man it’s a great movie.

I don’t know that many people who have seen How to Make a Killing (🌟🌟🌟). That should change. This is a good movie, damn it. Glen Powell holds down nearly every scene. He’s awesome as a guy who sets out to kill his family after learning he’s the heir to over a billion dollars.

Fury didn’t receive any Oscar nominations. It didn’t break any box office records. It’s also not an all-time war film. But who cares? This a really good film with a great ensemble. It’s a movie I’ll likely keep tucked away in my back pocket ready to watch for the rest of my life.

Matt Johnson has proven himself to be one of Cinema’s brightest, youngest voices at the moment. This guy officially has my attention. Johnson is only 40 & he’s already building a filmography that I find incredibly impressive. He knocked it out of the park earlier this year with Nirvanna the Band the Show the Movie & Tony (🌟🌟🌟🌟), which I reviewed below, is even better. His 2023 film Blackberry is another notch in Johnson’s directorial belt. Wherever he goes next, I’ll follow.

There’s a very high likelihood, Mark Carney will form a majority government. Not from the ballot box, but from backroom deals. Just because it’s “allowed,” doesn’t make it right. I’ll never be convinced that this is democratic. It’s traitorous for any MP to do this.

The End of Oak Street (🌟🌟🌟🌟) gave me everything I wanted from an August survival thriller. There is so much satisfaction in walking out of a movie theater that gives you literally everything you wanted/expected. I’m not here to anoint Oak Street the “best dino film since Jurassic Park”. I’m just here to tell you this is a damn good use of 90 minutes on a hot Saturday in August.

Ridley Scott did not win an Oscar for Gladiator. I know it was a competitive field back in 2001, but as time passes, it’s hard to accept that Scott won zero Academy Awards despite the film’s five wins overall. Part of the relevance of this comes from the fact that this year, Scott is receiving an honorary Oscar from the The Academy. I’m happy Ridley’s finally getting his credit but come one…Scott should own a statue just for this film alone.

Because if they trust and watch this film even once, they will understand that nothing has been said against the Pakistani public. Whatever has been said is against terrorism. If they understand that we are fighting terrorism not any public or individual. I think they will like this film very much.

Ryan Gosling’s work in Blue Valentine doesn’t get talked about enough. It might be a product of the fact Gosling went on an insane run from 2012-2017 & this preceded that run, but I really believe this is one Gosling’s best performances. It’s also a brutally heartbreaking film.
