- AssetHub officially launched - Using Metahuman Component as parts system in UEFN This is crazy! Just discovered I can use the Metahuman Component in UEFN as a general parts system! Perfect for modular characters. So I had to test it out. First step: character design. With GPT Image 2 I got some really solid characters to work with. These are perfect to test anime/ lowpoly models as well. Gavin Harvey also officially launched so I jumped on a fresh workflow to build the first one. Since I’m aiming for an anime/flat shaded style, I chose Tripo P1 to generate straight to low poly models. Results were perfect for me, UV and textured directly done. Did the main assembly in Blender. I transferred weights onto the new parts (like the jacket here) and used proportional editing to tweak vertices so everything fits together nicely. Then into UEFN / Unreal Engine: For the two-tone shadow look, I made a material that uses the sun direction as a mask. To make all the modular parts work together, I set up a blueprint with the body skeletal mesh as the base, and all the other parts attached as children. Now the really cool part: the Metahuman Component actually lets you plug in extra body parts directly. And every skeletal mesh can have its own Control Rig slot. That means you can layer procedural animations on top of your main animation setup. I used it for procedural eye blinking and hair physics. Since every part is separate, swapping variations is super easy while keeping all animations perfectly synced!

Here's a sneaky peak the next release of the GB Renewables Map, or should I say the GB Not Just a Renewables Map… That's right, all types of power assets are coming to the map! Plus a whole bunch of other improvements. It's been an absolutely massive piece of work that's sucked up most of my evenings and free time, but I'm very nearly there now. And if you didn't already know, yup, this a hobby project I do for fun outside of my day job… because I'm weird like that. This video shows how things currently look with all the power assets visible, though you might also notice a few other additions if you look closely… It still has some rough edges so I'm in two minds whether to just put this live and work on fixes and improvements as I go. This is a huge change to the code and to the whole concept for the map, so I'm not entirely sure I'll ever have it 100% nailed down. I'm also cautious letting perfect be the enemy of good enough. I don't think there's anything awfully broken though, I've tested it so much it's probably more robust than the current version of the map! Though there will inevitably be things that I've overlooked. Even in its current state it's already proven incredibly valuable for me to learn more about what's happening during periods of constraint on the grid, like seeing which assets are being turned up to balance things out. What do you think? Shall I put this live and we can find the quirks together?

Message from Little Aemeath: Ring Ring! Thank you for using Little Aemeath Communication! Alright, I'm just joking. What have you been up to recently? How is your life at the Academy? Hmm, actually don't answer the question just yet— Do you know that I've actually paid you a visit in the academy? But unfortunately it's not like you'd know anyway since I am now a digital ghost... So that's why I've tried sending you a few messages through the WavesLine. It's a safe, reasonable, and polite option. There is something I want to tell you real quick: it seems like someone recently flooded the notice board with the same exact message saying, "The Voidworm was defeated!" And want to guess who showed up on the thank you list? You! It looks like you are a very famous person now in the academy! You seem to capture everyone's gaze anywhere you pass. I'm... uhh... How should I describe it...? I'm proud. And also can't help but feel a bit worried. Since every time this "heroic savior moment" happens, it always comes with some very tedious things afterwards. Like interviews, thank yous, expectations, and legends... Everyone is passionate about those, but they never ask if you ever felt tired... So... Well, this message isn't really here to give you praise. I figure that you would have already been tired from those words already, right? I want to know if you have been taking needed rests; Did you get hurt? Have you ever forced yourself to continue on...? If you did... you can always slow down a bit, you know... It's fine... It's not like the world will implode just because you slow down for a little bit. Well, even if something does happen, it's not like you actually have to carry all this burden yourself... At least you still have got me! Alright! That is today's systematic check on you! Did it sound like an elderly person making ramblings? You used to do that to me all the time as well, you know. Sigh. Remember to take care of yourself more, alright? I'll check on you again in the near future. Communication... End. #WutheringWaves #WuWa

A closer look on the GSAP powered animations in Webflow. Just from my perspective. In short, it’s way more powerful than I first thought. The more I use it, the more I like it. Of course, there are some parts missing. But it's the first version. There's still a lot to come. For example, custom ease would already make a huge difference. Breakpoints. Maybe a way to add custom functions as sometimes you need to calculate stuff in JavaScript to get complex animations. The biggest part for me is that you can just build the animation inside a timeline. This makes it so much easier than writing it as code. You can fine tune it so much more. When there would be a way to export the tween as code to add some more functionality would be awesome. You can also add custom classes with the timeline, which can then be used in custom CSS to add more functionality. With a bit of custom code you can also use breakpoints for your animations. By using the custom event the animation can be used in custom code which can also be pretty powerful. Didn’t test it so much yet, but would be cool if you could just take the event and use for example the onComplete() from GSAP or other stuff. For example. let mm = gsap.matchMedia(); const module = Webflow.require("ix3"); module.ready().then(() => { mm.add( { isMobile: "(max-width: 992px)", }, (context) => { let { isMobile } = context.conditions; if (isMobile) { module.emit("Mobile Animation"); } } ); }); "Mobile Animation" is the name of your custom event. I hope that part will get more powerful. Something I miss on the timeline is that when you select more actions you can just drag all actions. It would be cool if you could move it frame by frame with the arrow keys, like in Jitter for example. Or just write a specific point like when you have one selected. For now I would further write the code myself, but I’m excited to see where it’s going. Maybe there will be a time where you could animate most parts inside Webflow 🙂 Can’t wait for the next GSAP update!

Tony Gwynn shares what it took to become one of the greatest hitters of all time and how to master the mental game. "It took me a while to figure it out, but after about 4 or 5 years, I started to realize that this thing was more mental than it was physical." He didn't figure it out alone. "Those first 5 years, I had great conversations with a lot of great players. Pete Rose, Willie Stargell, Henry Aaron, Mike Schmidt. I had a chance to sit down and talk to 'em - pick their brain, find out how they do what they do." The greats learn from the greats. They never stop learning. They never stop wanting to get better. "After about 4 years, I started to realize that this is more mental than physical. So what I need to do is get an approach that I think will work and then just trust the approach. Trust what you practice on. Trust it." That's the key. Create the plan then work the plan. And when it's not working, you still trust yourself. "During the winter, I can hit in a cage and be mechanically sound. But the first time I hit live in spring training, I'll be lucky if I get a ball out of the cage." "For younger guys, that's a sign of, 'Oh, I'm not getting out of the cage,' so they try to speed things up, do things quicker." Trust your approach and stay under control. Don't let frustration change who you are. The game is mental. The greats know that and they learn how to build a process that works for them. They adapt as needed, but they learn the art of focus. Focusing on how to master and trust the process. (🎥Special Collections )

Actor Jo In-sung won the Blue Dragon Film Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in the movie #Smugglers. Jo In-sung, when on stage to accept his award, first apologized to Park Jung-min (Smugglers co-actor), who was also nominated. He said, "I feel really sorry for Park Jung-min. I wanted Jung-min to receive this award." He continued, "I would like to thank director Seung-wan Ryu and CEO Hye-jeong Kang for giving me the opportunity to film and perform with great actors. I had many amazing experiences while working on this work, so I didn't want to be separated from them. I remember crying a lot on the day we parted ways. This is a precious film to me. “It’s a memory,” he said. "I think this award should go to the heroes of Smugglers who should have received more applause for their work: the female divers, Jangdori. I really didn't want to miss out on Yeom Jeong-ah's love and sikhye. Senior Kim Hye-soo, who will be the happiest than anyone else. “If time permits, I will give you a warm hug,” he said, running to Kim Hye-soo to share his joy. Kim Hye-soo then said, "I met great actors. Yeom Jeong-ah, Park Jung-min, Go Min-si, and our female divers. I learned a lot while working with Jo In-sung. He is a truly wonderful person and a truly wonderful actor who has shown me a lot so far but I am looking forward to more in the future," she praised. #BlueDragonFilmAwards2023 #joinsung #zoinsung #조인성 #밀수

The Text Me Back script is finished! 🥳🎉 This is probably the biggest achievement of my life. I have been through so much over the past year, and especially the last three months haven't been easy. But I kept pushing through even when it hurt because when you do, you make sure that one day it'll get easier. I'm so proud of this script. I've been writing novels and screenplays since I was a young teen, on and off, some years more off than on, but I've always kinda felt that my execution didn't live up to my ambitions. But this time, it's everything I wanted it to be and more. In fact, I'll say that it's better than I ever thought it could be. Of course, that's my extremely biased opinion, but I hope that you'll enjoy it just as much as I've enjoyed writing it. Well, that depends on the execution of the actual gameplay too, but I'm confident. I always say that if somebody else can do something, so can I. So, since the first Life is Strange is pretty close to what I want to do gameplay-wise, it's already been done. There's proof it's possible, and so it will be possible for me too. Now, I'll spend the next few weeks polishing the final episode. There are still some things I'm not fully satisfied with. Episode 5 is still a first draft. (I'll also share the final word count at that time. I'm a sucker for word counts.) So, after a couple of weeks, I'll finally start really getting into making the demo, and hopefully, this page will get more interesting as I can start to show things. Don't expect the world right away, but it'll get more and more exciting as we go. I promise. Thanks to all of you for sticking with me through this long writing process! PS: For the voice actors: I'll start sending out the full, finished scripts by the end of July. Sorry that it took so long, but I think the wait will be worth it! #gamedev #gaming #TextMeBack #gamer #indiegame #indiegamedev #UnrealEngine5 #femaleprotagonist #solodev #solodeveloper #unrealengine #indiedev

■ Mark talked about his MT2 on Twitch •Q: MT2 when? ●Mark: all right. MT2.. my, originally i wanted to put it out this year, but i kind of want to take my time just prepping it a little bit more. so it probably won't happen this year. but i'm working on it. ●Mark: i'll probably put out a few singles this year just to put music out, put some songs out this year. and then we'll see next year maybe MT2. (can't wait to hear.) ●Mark: yeah, i mean, i was working on the album, working on the music like you guys saw on the vlog in between my breaks. but i just, i don't know, i feel like, every single time i'm working on a new album, it takes a while, right? it takes a while to work on the album. and i feel like, i always end up wanting to switch directions and like the vision for the album keeps getting changed along the way. i don't know if it's like the process. ●Mark: i got feel like back then when we were doing GOT7, it was like, this is the concept of the album and stuff like that. and we would either make songs along that story line or whatever it is. ●Mark: but working, you know, like independently you guys have so much freedom, it's like you want to try so many different things. i want it to be really good, to be really good. so gonna take my time to work on this next album for you guys. because i do want to tour after putting the album out, so i want it to be good for you guys. ●Mark: (when am i gonna drop my next single?) working on stuff right now, i'll probably drop a few singles this year. but as for the album, it might take a little bit longer. ------------- Mark-ya, please freely just go ahead and finish it according to your own direction, flow and plan. walking through this process with you is exactly what we need to truly prepare ourselves for MT02. since this album is where your soul and time are poured into, how could we expect to listen to it without long wait? we'll be ready and waiting, too. so please don't worry about a thing and do everything you want to do on your own flow and plan. we are always rooting for you, artist Mark Tuan. we are not looking for a quick release. we want to listen to your music that reflects your soul exactly as it is. it would absolutely take time. we are with you every step of the way. we are always right here by your side. please just stay true to what you believe in. to be honest.. you looked like you had a lot on your mind when i saw your face today.. so thank you for sharing your process so candidly. have a good dinner and get some good rest with your babies. love you. 🤍 Mark Tuan #MarkTuan #우리마크

Jensen Huang on how the first 6 months of NVIDIA was just three guys talking about lunch: "We met every day, the three of us, in one of the founders' townhouse in Fremont and we would get together and there would be nothing to do. What do you do? Three guys get together, you just talk. So what did you guys do last night? What did you have for dinner? We talked about that for about six months." Jensen was 30 years old. Never taken a business class. Never taken a marketing class. As he puts it: "The big event of the day would be—hey, where do you guys want to go for lunch? Philly cheese steak today or Chinese food tomorrow. That would be like a big deal. And then after a while it was like could you put some donuts in the fridge in the morning for when we come. That would be a big deal for a while. That lasted for a few months, just the three of us like that." He continues: "I know it sounds pathetic but it's true. At that time I'm reading books on how to start companies and I'm trying to figure out how to go raise money and what's a venture capitalist and how do you incorporate the company." On incorporating NVIDIA: "I met a lawyer and he says we need some money from you so we could price the shares. He says how much money do you have in your pocket? I said $200. So he says okay give me $200. For $200 I bought 20% of NVIDIA." On the business plan: "I never finished my business plan. We never finished a business plan. Never could figure out how to finish a business plan to tell you the truth. If I would have finished that book and read the whole thing, I would have been dead now. We would have run out of money, ran out of time." What VCs actually invest in: "VCs don't invest in business plans because business plans are easy to write. They invest in great people. The question is—do they trust you? Your reputation matters, your history matters. Your reputation will precede you even if your business plan writing skills are inadequate." Great companies start with great people, not great plans.

My pDAI Position Publicly 🚨 People have directly asked me where I stand on pDAI, and based on everything I have at my disposal the answer is clear. With about to launch, and with the data I have compiled from alone, without even factoring in Richard’s public and private positioning, I will not be touching it under any circumstances. The pDAI narrative being pushed is one of the most dishonest I have encountered in this space, and the mathematical framework required to maintain a true $1 peg costs far too much to be sustainable. I have the data, I have seen the models, and the conclusion is not opinion. It is fact. My opponents will of course cry foul. They will say this is fear, uncertainty, doubt. They will claim I am disconnected from reality. They will insist this is happening, this is fate, unstoppable, inevitable. They will shout that I do not see the vision, that I lack conviction, that I am missing the revolution. They will argue that innovation is misunderstood at first, that resistance proves its strength, that the critics are always proven wrong in the end. They will claim adoption will fix the flaws, liquidity will solve the math, time will validate the dream. And I will tell you now, none of that changes the truth. It is a memecoin, plain and simple. Nothing more. You might see it pump to one dollar, but so will countless other alts long before it ever holds there. Stick with the core assets, especially potential plays like $HEX and $INC if you are uncertain and it will potentially save you a whole lot of tears.
