🤔 Fun Fact: Prince shot down the multimillion-dollar offer because he found it humbling that kids would "learn" on a button-mashing guitar; he even challenged executives, saying he'd rather give away real instruments to schools than see his music in a video game. Did you know? 🤯

His actions rather than decisions were priceless, as always, Prince was a legend.

A lot of kids picked up real guitars after playing guitar hero. Prince missed out. It’s also a missed opportunity to expose his music to an age group that may not have heard him before.

Prince also explaining why we should all play guitar or any instrument…

Indeed. Great points.

I don’t think it should’ve been one over the other. He could’ve looked at GH as a new platform to inspire kids to pick up the real instrument.

The sheer volume of money he turned down over his lifetime to keep his music is own is nothing short of awe inspiring

STUPIDEST decision ever!!! He would've made a huge investment in that endeavor!🤦🏾‍♂️

Nope, that was a decision made by his instincts and personal thoughts, not like a commercial move.

i don't think the sentiment should be exclusive, people who pick up guitar hero somewhere along the ride can also learn to play the actual guitar

Playing Rock Band got me even more interested in playing guitar. Just can’t afford a guitar.

It’s dying art and I think he saw that which is why he excused himself from participation in the game. Respect.

Prince was just saying words here. If anything I think that Guitar Hero had the potential to nurture an interest in kids to play a REAL guitar

if you actually play guitar, you most likely suck at guitar hero. Its not even close to the same thing.

Playing guitar hero definitely led into me playing real guitar. The worst part is when I went back to guitar hero some of the songs are easier to play on the real deal than in the game lol

I severed the ulnar nerve in my left wrist as a teenager. It left my left pinkie and left ring finger mostly paralyzed. I played (and still play) Rock Band/Guitar Hero as therapy, to strengthen my hand. Playing a real guitar is out of the question. But thanks anyway, Prince.

Gotta respect his reasoning. Very rare to see someone ‘fumble the bag’ intentionally due to principle. Refreshing!

I appreciate Prince more now than I did when he was alive. I missed out.

well as far as I know he didn't license his music to Rock Smith either which actually does teach you to play the guitar

Subtitles are wrong, always f****** wrong. He didn't say "I'm mad at them" he said " I ain't made at them" he's exactly right. Pick up a real instrument. It is heaven once you're able to channel your energy through music

Prince is one of the greats. I resisted guitar hero forever until some girl I was into played it. Then I had to assert dominance by working my way up to 💯 thunderhorse on expert because hell nah. I got so cracked out on it it kept me away from real guitar for a couple of months. NGL.

I love Prince and all that but I highly disagree this argument he’s pushing here. It shouldn’t be shunned like how he’s passively aggressively mentioning. Sometimes it can spark interest in actually learning the instrument. I got into playing actual drums from playing rock band

He’s was against the easy way out gimmicky stuff. So do it the real way💪🏻 Prince was true to the craft and wanted others to be too. Very cool!

If you had asked me if Prince was still alive when GT came out, I'd have said no. I can't believe it was only 10yrs ago when he died, feels like a lot longer 🙁

Prince's 'last guitar' made by East Sussex craftsman: The hand-made 'Purple Special' guitar was made from cedar, carbon fibre and gold plating. A purple and gold electric guitar believed to be one of the last Prince owned before he died was built in a small one-man workshop in East Sussex. Simon "Gus" Farmer, from Heathfield, began working on the guitar nine years ago. It was only at the beginning of March that Prince received it before showing it off on stage. He apparently liked it so much he ordered a bass guitar. Mr Farmer said: "He didn't have it long, but long enough to enjoy it." Mr Farmer said he built the guitar on spec nine years ago when Prince held a series of shows at London's O2 arena. Friends told him it would be the "perfect" guitar for Prince, but despite his best efforts he could not get it to the musician's attention. "It just didn't pan out and I just moved on to other things," he said. "But it gathered a bit of momentum on forums over the years until eventually he noticed it on social media." After his management got in touch, the guitar was sent to over him at the beginning of March. The guitar was built nine years ago in his Heathfield workshop. "He liked it and ordered a bass straight away which I was working on when he died," he said. "It was amazing to see he had performed with it and liked it so much he wanted another guitar from me. I've been told it was the last guitar he owned. "It doesn't really get any better than that - I couldn't have wanted to get the guitar to someone that suited me more." Mr Farmer, whose guitars sell for up to £15,000, said Prince's death came as an incredible shock as his complete focus over the last few weeks had been making the bass. "I'm definitely going to finish it, I'm just not sure what I'll do with it," he said. Prince
