This is the reason that coaches and parents go bonkers sometimes. This play at home left people baffled. The runner is rounding third and headed for home. The throw to the catcher gets there way ahead of time of the runner. The catcher catches the ball, waits for the runner and applies the tag. Easy out right? 💯 The umpire calls obstruction on the catcher and said he was obstructing the runner from scoring. The runner is safe! 🤯 That may be one of the worst calls I’ve ever seen on any level. The ball arrived so early that the catcher could have sat on home plate and had lunch waiting for that runner. If you have the ball you can be right there waiting to tag the runner when he comes in. What do you think? Obstruction or not? Was the catcher not giving the runner a fair path to home plate or was the umpire watching a game on another planet?

Ball beats you to HP, think about sliding inside. Catcher’s natural tendency is to turn to his left to make the tag. This play was a little different since the throw took the catcher into foul territory.

This throw to second by the catcher is literally such a laser beam that it doesn’t look real It looks like a video game throw

How come the catcher isn’t wearing a protective cup for instances like this one? Taking the term “breaking ball” to a whole new level. Don’t watch if you have a sensitive stomach

Runners on 1st & 3rd one out & 3-2,count. Rockies Zach Agnos with well timed pick. ( Could have been off of dropped glove by catcher) #1 Note the position of the 1st baseman. He is off the & up the line. #2 This enables him to make a midline tag well before the runner reaches

Look at Kimmich. That‘s what he does best. Spam 100 long balls & get hyped for the 1 long ball that actually reaches his teammate. He doesn’t even defend either. So tired of him. Kimmich is the weak link of this team & Tah/Upa/Pavlo have to make up for it

Middle infielders: I’m a believer in taking the throw from in-front of the bag on a stolen-base attempt. The main reason why: Catchers aren’t always going to put the ball on the bag. A common miss is arm side, causing the throw to tail towards first base. When you're in-front, you have freedom to move toward a bad throw without the runner sliding underneath or into you. You can catch it, make the tag, and potentially keep a bad throw from getting into center field. If you straddle the bag, your range can become limited once the runner starts sliding in. In order to do this, you must LET THE BALL TRAVEL Don't reach out, catch it early, and then bring your glove back to the runner. You're wasting valuable time. Let the ball travel over the bag and make a quick tag. If he's out → quick tag If he's safe → tag and HOLD IT. Give him a chance to come off the bag. Get in-front Let the ball travel Catch it late Tag quickly

The new “perfect throw”…the new set up for receiving the throw….set up in front of bag…move up line….let the ball travel all the way to the runner. Clinic by Julien.

The ball boy purposely gave the foul ball to the kid in the front row but he ended up missing it and the goof with the sunglasses picked it up and gave it to his partner instead of the kid. You can tell this is the type of good who will tell his friends he made an amazing catch in the stands. Don’t be this guy.

Dear Catcher, This is Mr. Coach. How dare you do a deflection with your mitt on the 100mph FB spiked at 56’ feet. You need to first get off your knee, slide your body over with two knees down, tuck your chin, and get your barehand behind the ball! - Reality: Nice athletic game-saving stop. Do what you gotta do! Catch first, Stop it second. Hands move faster than the body! I’ve never met a pitcher that tried to intentionally throw a fastball in the dirt.

C Tavin Nass (Franklin, 2028) launched a deep fly ball that carried over the centerfield fence for his third hit today. Athletic catcher, strong, bat speed; one of the top-ranked at his position in the state’s sophomore class. #PBRatTheRock | Franklin Baseball

The catcher as his own cutoff man. There are times when the cutoff man is late or the throw is uncutable that catcher has to make the decision on his own. Keep your head on a swivel. See where the runner is when the ball is released. In general, if the runner is on or passed 3B

The difference between Bruno & Tielemans. • Tielemans has the composure to pick out a pass & progress out of being pressed. • Bruno who is OUT OF POSITION, receives the ball & attempts the immediate key pass. This ends in an attempt on our goal.

Comment ‘FLUSH’ to learn how to strike ball first, turf second. If you’re not taking a divot after the ball, here’s what needs to happen in your swing 👇 1️⃣ Shift Pressure Early – Your weight should move into your front foot before the backswing finishes. That sets up a forward
