I want to talk about a word that has fallen out of fashion in this country: hope. Not as a slogan or a fleeting sentiment, but as a democratic necessity—an active ingredient of citizenship. Because citizenship is not always easy, and hope is not always organic. We live in an age when cynicism comes cheap. But in a democracy, cynicism is not neutral—it’s corrosive. What I know is this: we cannot give up on politics as a vehicle for progress. And we cannot claim to believe in democracy while cutting off conversation across disagreement.

It is the start of a new week. There are many hurts and grievances. Many disappointments. Some explainable, others not. But in all things, we give thanks to God. We give thanks not because we are satisfied or happy with everything or everyone around us. Not because we have the answers to the many niggling questions that keep us awake at night. Not because we know the way. We give thanks because he gave us life. We are still here with a fighting chance, no matter how bleak it may seem. There's a reason we are still breathing and not on a cold morgue slab. That reason is the hope we cling on to. The faith we keep. The process we trust. He has kept us going for a reason. And for that we give thanks. Keep the faith. Pick yourself up. Your final chapter is not yet written. He has got us all. He NEVER fails! Shalom. 🦁🙏🏾

Toxic empathy is not the love of Christ. Feeling for others by excusing harmful behavior in the name of empathy is not compassion or love. True love speaks truth, and calls people to responsibility because that’s what is truly best for them. All compassion must be tempered with Wisdom and Truth. We can end up supporting harmful things when we use our feelings and not the Word to rightly judge right from wrong.

People are done with DEI and identity politics. This country is crying out for fairness, not box ticking. You do not deserve a role because of who you are, you earn it through merit, ability and hard work. Yet we are still seeing parties like Reform push candidates based on identity over substance. That is not progress, that is regression. Under an Advance UK government, positions would be earned, not handed out. Merit would come first. Always.
