End of an era! The last public service of non-AC double decker coaches of the iconic Flying Ranee Express train entering Mumbai Central station this morning. From this evening of 16 July 2023, the train has been upgraded with LHB-class upgraded version of coaches, but sadly will not be a double decker. Could not miss the historic last run of the double decker coaches for anything. They were introduced on the train on 18 December 1979, exactly 43 years six months 29 days. The only double decker train to remain now is the Valsad Fast Passenger, operated by Western Railway.

NEW: Delta is offering $30,000 to each passenger that was on the flight that crashed in Toronto, Canada, according to The Minnesota Star Tribune. If the passengers accept, the company would dish out about $2.3 million. Spokesperson Morgan Durrant said the money is simply just a gesture with "no strings attached and does not impact rights." Delta CEO Ed Bastian says the pilots on the plane were "experienced." "There is one level of safety at Delta. All these pilots train for these conditions. This is what we train for. We train for this continuously."

CSMT-bound 12126 Pune-Mumbai Pragati Express crosses over to enter the Up Through line at Vikhroli as the sixth line on which it is travelling ends abruptly at Vidyavihar and the train needs to continue its journey ahead to Dadar & then CSMT, in the process detaining a fast suburban EMU local train. Every such crossover leads to loss of time for Express as well as suburban trains, which get lined up adding to the delay domino effect. #Mumbai #MumbaiRailway

Hundreds of "Train experts" have emerged in India since yesterday. This is how train coupling is done in India. When the train moves, the shuntman should not be standing on railway track. There are several videos available where a shuntman stands in track when the train is moving and it should not happen ideally. In the second video, you don't even have to put the latch & lock. What happened in Bihar was sheer negligence. But "train experts" on X will blame Ashwini Vaishnaw for it because it is faishoable I guess...

We tend to blame the government for everything! - We blame the government if a train is late. - We blame the government when a train is stopped in the middle of nowhere. - We blame the government if there is an attack on a train. - We blame the government if a train is not clean. But we often ignore the root causes behind these issues. People like the one in the video stop trains by coming onto the tracks, break train windows by throwing stones, pull the emergency chain without a valid reason, and litter inside coaches. I'm sorry to say this, but many Indians lack basic civic sense.
