I think in giving the neighbor the smoked sausages, the older dude is actually begging for an invite to watch some football and to just have some companionship. Not inviting the older guy over to watch ball might be a huge missed opportunity.

I would trade anything to have a decent neighbour. I envy those too so much it physically hurts. Being a decent human being is not that hard but there are those that truly make life agonizing for the sake of it. This is how we should treat each other. This world is full of pain and suffering so why not make it a little more pleasant like these two.
