Protest circuit regular Faisal Ibrahim stays silent when asked about comrades seemingly tied to the underage protester arrested at Ford Fest. But this is no laughing matter. Recruiting youth to carry out high-risk activities mirrors tactics used by gangs. There are signs this network reaches into powerful institutions, such...

Renaming and Rebranding Streets, businesses, schools, and even people were renamed to remove traditional or religious connotations. It's a very serious matter when elected politicians engage with street thugs to control a political narrative & influence history. But I've seen it with my own eyes & it reaches beyond Toronto into Privy Council & global crime organizations too. Stay safe. Lee does great work.🏆

There is an emerging pattern in Toronto’s protest landscape: a small but influential network of activists and politicians operating in a seemingly symbiotic, at times parasitic, relationship. A clear illustration of this overlap came during the 43rd anniversary of the Charter event at City Hall, hosted by Progress Toronto. The event was publicly framed as a civic celebration, and used in practice as a platform for coordinated opposition to the now-passed “protest bubble” by-law. Progress Toronto routinely adopts tactics from protest groups while providing political legitimacy and access to decision-makers. Some protesters appear to benefit from political cover as they engage in disruptive or unlawful activity. Protest endeavours include encampments on university campuses, rail blockades, violent demonstrations outside schools and places of worship, business disruptions, repeated intersection takeovers, acts of public vandalism, swarming police cruisers, disrupting family-oriented events featuring elected officials, staging takeovers at Union Station, and occupying a building on Parliament Hill. These demonstrations come with enormous policing costs, tying up public resources and requiring sustained law enforcement presence. Several individuals have been criminally charged in connection with such actions, including for mischief, assault with a weapon, assaulting a peace officer with a weapon, and disguise with intent. Elected officials should, of course, meet constituents across ideological lines. But when relationships form between political actors and activists who regularly test the boundaries of the law, the nature and impact of those connections deserve closer scrutiny. When media fails to interrogate these dynamics, it risks becoming not just a bystander, but an uncritical participant in the broader ecosystem. How do you challenge power when it wears the face of protest? 📸 Apr 17, 2025 #cdnpoli #Toronto #ProtestMania

Dear Members of Toronto City Council, As you gather before the session, I ask you to consider the moral imperative behind Councillor Cheng’s Motion MM39.43 to raise the Lion and Sun flag. Some councillors have voiced concerns about geopolitics or raising other nations’ flags. I want to respectfully address these. This is not about geopolitics or being pro- or anti-war; it’s about recognizing the pain of the Iranian people, who have suffered the largest massacre in their recent history—one of the largest since the Holocaust. Many in Iran are now under digital blackout—unable to be heard—while families desperately need signs of solidarity. Toronto is home to the largest Iranian community outside Iran and witnessed the largest, most peaceful demonstration in its history on February 14—deemed exemplary by Toronto police. There was no incident—only peace and solidarity. The Lion and Sun flag was carried by all to symbolize support for freedom. Recognizing this symbol is how we remember those lost and alleviate the pain of families who feel unseen. When Toronto raises this symbol, even briefly, it shows that we stand for inclusion and dignity. I urge you to vote unanimously so that our community knows they are seen and not forgotten. Thank you. 🚨 The Chinese Communist Party–backed Party for Socialism and Liberation is making a major push to mobilize high school students against deportations. They are enraged that the superintendent of the Marietta City School District in Georgia, along with the principal of Marietta High School, stepped in and stopped students from walking out of class to protest a cause many of them likely know little about. This is what the PSL said in response: “Footage from Marietta High School in GA this morning shows hundreds of students being physically blocked by administrators from participating in a student-organized walkout in defense of immigrants and others being terrorized by ICE.” “Reportedly, the superintendent of the Marietta school system attempted to physically restrain students as they sought to assert what they claim are their constitutionally protected First Amendment rights to assemble and peacefully protest.” “This despicable behavior—intimidation and harassment of students by school administrators—should be condemned by all, and those responsible must be held accountable.” “The PSL stands with the thousands of students across Georgia courageously walking out of class today in protest of the racist mass-deportation machine.” There needs to be a full financial audit of PSL and another NGO that are pushing underage students into political protests, especially when those actions escalate into violent situations. I support Marietta City Schools!!!

Gisela McKay seems busy in 2025. So far she has participated in and/or organized the: ✅ disruption at Chrystia Freeland’s leadership campaign launch; ✅ demonstration outside MP Bill Blair’s (maybe) home; ✅ protest at Boiler Room rave; ✅ sit-in at the Globe and Mail; ✅ distribution of hot food with no hand-washing station at City Hall; ✅ obscenity-laden concert within earshot of public skating rink; and ✅ disruption at municipal budget meeting. This list is not exhaustive, and it is only the end of February. It is reasonable to question whether this sacred fire outside the courthouse is, in fact, a pretence to provoke confrontation with local authorities. Last year, Gisela organized a dance party outside Toronto Police Headquarters that resulted in two arrests, including an Indigenous woman hyped up to the point of allegedly assaulting police (and sustaining injuries herself, including to her eyes). Apparent courthouse fire keeper Jordn Scum is involved in the same protest scene, sometimes to his own material detriment. Anyone associated with Gisela opens themselves up to scrutiny based on her track record of exploiting public resources while simultaneously disrupting public order. Law enforcement seems to be taking a laissez faire approach, allowing people to use protest and culture as smokescreens for chaos— even if a permit was obtained (not yet confirmed), disputes cannot be resolved with vigilante violence. The camera stays on if there is a threat of harm. 📸 Feb 27, 2025 #cdnpoli #Toronto #ProtestMania

When you pay sales tax, your money goes up to Ottawa and Queen’s Park. I’m moving a motion for Toronto to finally receive a share of the HST, to invest in the services you rely on here in your city, every day. Please sign the petition: It’s budget season again in Toronto and the cracks are showing between the City’s revenue and the services that the City is expected to provide. For decades, provincial and federal governments have downloaded responsibilities to the City including roads, shelters, courts, daycare, public health and more. Today, approximately 27% of Toronto’s property tax revenue is spent funding extensions of federal and provincial responsibilities. But even as Toronto is told to take on more, the province prescribes what revenue tools are available to the City, and has restricted them almost exclusively to taxes on property. Toronto is one of Canada’s primary economic engines. The Toronto region generates 20% of the national GDP, 20% of Ontario’s jobs, and attracts more than 28 million annual visitors. This level of economic activity is enabled by the investments our city has made in social and civic infrastructure, including affordable housing, public health, roads and transit. We host people from across the country and around the world at events like Taylor Swift concerts, the World Series, and the FIFA games, which generates tens of millions of dollars in tax revenue for the provincial and federal governments. Meanwhile, the City shoulders the costs of additional policing, emergency services, transit, and crowd management that make these events possible. The math doesn’t work. Without any other source of revenue, municipalities have been forced to hike property taxes, cut vital services and delay critical infrastructure investments just to stay afloat. If Toronto is expected to continue driving national prosperity, it must be granted access to revenue tools that are predictable, reflect our investments, and grow with the economy. No more “new deals”. No more begging for one-time ad hoc program funding. It’s time for Toronto to have a fair share of the HST.
