Kyty PS5 emulator keeps making impressive progress. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Wrath of the Mutants is now playable at around 22-24 FPS. Current status: • In-game • 22-24 FPS • Crashes on the first launch • Runs without further crashes after restarting I feel it's progressing at a much faster rate than sharpEMU, right? xai former employee has to step down after revealing the roadmap for macrohard, basically creating a 'human emulator' that does everything. basically, jobs are gone and xai competitors now know their roadmap. 'we get a full human emulator we can put to work' near the end he even calls that the roadmap isn't public and continues haha, i love it.

Minecraft is now rendering on a PS5 emulator. It's still heavily glitched, but this is another meaningful step for PS5 emulation. Current progress: • Main menu boots • World loads • Some blocks, like beds, render correctly • Basic rendering pipeline appears functional The biggest issue now seems to be texture handling. The PS5's texture memory still isn't being translated correctly into Vulkan images, causing most textures to break. It's far from playable, but every correctly rendered object is another clue that the emulator is moving in the right direction. Credit: discord/Arbis

We're entering the stage where robots can do the robot dance and it's recognizable as a joke. The emulator emulates past emulation. In other words, the robot dance is transitioning to a form of historical preservation. The equivalent of a Renaissance fair performance. It's a recurring cycle: 1. A new technology emerges that attempts to emulate human behavior. 2. The failure to perfectly emulate humans gives rise to a vernacular based on the uncanny feeling of that emulator, e.g. the specific stiffness of robots. 3. Humans emulate the emulator as a form of entertainment and commentary, e.g. humans doing the robot dance. 4. Technology crosses the uncanny valley, it acquires lifelike behavior. The emulation becomes realistic. (We are here now!) 5. The vernacular of the emulator survives as a form of historical reenactment. There are many examples of this phenomenon e.g. Pinkydoll the "NPC streamer" or a musician like JD Beck who drums with the feeling and precision of a drum machine.
