Donations are for donation drives, food and clothes and housewares as well. There’s plenty for new or used items, Angel Tree is for BUYING gifts not handing them down, if you can’t buy the items on the list NEW then it’s not for you find another way to be “charitable”

I was a kid that was gifted things off of an angel tree by my local fire department, it was the first time I had ever received dangle earrings and a brand new comforter that wasn’t a hand me down. That was 33 years ago and I still think about it.

When i did angel tree it said she liked Barbie. So i went and bought her name brand barbie stuff. As a kid who had gifts from Salvation Army (thankfully) but typically didn’t get stuff from a wishlist, I know it would make that kid happy to get exactly what she wanted, barbie.

Get them the same shit you get your own kids. You give your kids the best, so give them the best. If you can’t or refuse to, then DON’T DO IT.

It’s also just fucked up bc a lot of these kids think it’s Santa getting them the gift… now they’re ruining the Christmas spirit

I work in retail and people only come in to buy cheap hygiene products for their angel tree and that’s the entire gift. A $2 toothbrush and a small tube of toothpaste that will last about two weeks. It’s incredibly disgusting.

I'm sorry but if you're giving cheap junk or something secondhand to a kid on the angel tree you heart isn't in the right place.

Agree with majority but- well kept handy downs are perfectly acceptable. If they on the list of donation these are needs not wants and no one has room to be picky. That sounds blunt but it’s reality. It’s also good for the environment. They don’t NEED brand new clothes!

I found this youtuber the other day and she does several angel tree kids. I love her generosity

I saw a women that got like 3 kids one Was a baby and two were preteens; she got 3 sizes of diapers cloths all name brand, Nikes & iPads for the older kids it was beautiful to see.

also you can donated old/unused clothes at any time of the year, but angel trees is the time to give the kids new clothes!

Ain't been able to donate properly over the past few years, but still remember doing one for two kids years ago. One was a teen that wanted basic sports supplies and the younger was primarily clothes. Removed any price tags prior to donating.

i understand the frustration with crossing out the barcode & writing “donated” but it’s to prevent ppl from trying to steal & return the items or from parents doing it 🤕 there’s been a rise in theft with the angel trees with every year now

Cause why are the kids waking up on Christmas and the tags on the gifts Santa gave them crossed out and donated written, I had to use angel tree one time for my kids. And I unwrapped and re wrapped everything to make sure there was none of this on there

No one is entitled to new clothes or toy because they are poor. If you want new stuff, stop being poor.

THANK YOU! Hand-me-downs are for thrifts store and donation drives specifically asking for them. Angel Tree are supposed to be gifts from Santa and Santa ALWAYS brings the exact gift they asked for. Santa’s gifts are brand new, “specially-made” just for that child.
