In a shocking incident of civic breach at Pune’s famous Pu La Deshpande Garden on Sinhagad Road, Parvati Police have booked a Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) garden inspector, a contractor, and three workers for illegally felling trees and attempting to transport the timber without authorization. The illegal activity was exposed on July 27 when an alert citizen noticed workers cutting trees and loading them onto a vehicle behind the garden premises. Upon confrontation, the workers failed to produce permits and connected the complainant to PMC Garden Inspector Vikas Athawale, who admitted to authorizing the cutting.
