Public spaces like this should be maintained and enjoyed by residents, not left to fall apart. When the DA is in government we will protect public open spaces and make sure they are utilised to the full benefit of the community! #BelieveInJoburg #Zille4Mayor

The #SaveJabiPark action in Abuja today is about defending public parks from land grabbers and official thieves. Jabi Park belongs to the people, not to greedy politicians, their cronies, or land speculators. Public spaces must remain public. We will resist every attempt to steal the breathing spaces of Abuja residents. #SaveJabiPark #RevolutionNow

I spent my morning in Hillbrow today. It appears that public drinking is a norm. This is a reminder that consuming alcohol on the street, on sidewalks or in any public space is strictly prohibited. I may be nice now, but when the DA gets into government this public display of drinking will not be tolerated! 🚫 #BelieveInJoburg #Zille4Mayor

Great to be at the Vancouver Public Library with the team. Libraries are essential spaces for learning and community, and they deserve our support.

Over the past three weeks, our enforcement team has intensified the clearance of shanties, illegal structures, and other environmental nuisances along the Lagos–Badagry Expressway. This exercise will be followed by sustained surveillance and continuous monitoring to ensure that environmental order is restored and maintained along the corridor. We urge members of the public to respect and preserve our environment by refraining from converting public spaces into illegal markets or for any unauthorized private use. Anyone found encroaching on public spaces or using them for unlawful purposes will be arrested and prosecuted in accordance with the extant laws of Lagos State. #ZeroToleranceLagos

Free speech is not a license for sexual grooming in public spaces. “Pride” has served to erode the foundational pillars of decency in our society by normalizing unconventional sexual behaviors. Sex should remain private. Public spaces should remain appropriate.

Summertide should be banned completely in Kenya. How can our young people openly engage in sexual acts in public spaces, and nobody is talking about it? If I keep quiet, who will expose this moral decay in our society? We must protect the younger generation. To all parents, before you send money to your sons and daughters, especially this weekend, make sure you know where they are and what activities they are participating in. The videos circulating online from Malindi are deeply disturbing. If they are authentic, they appear to show young men and women engaging in unprotected sexual activity in public, with some scenes suggesting one young woman involved with multiple men. Such reports should be investigated by the relevant authorities. As a society, we cannot remain silent. We all have a responsibility to protect our children, uphold public decency, and promote values that safeguard the health, dignity, and future of our young people.

A video circulating online shows a woman walking a dog on a public sidewalk when police approach and ask her to move along after nearby residents complain about the dog. The residents say dogs passing close to them is offensive to their religious beliefs. The woman argues that it’s a public sidewalk and she has the right to walk her pet there. The moment sparks a heated debate about cultural differences and how public spaces should be shared. Situations like this raise difficult questions about integration, tolerance, and mutual respect. Public spaces are meant for everyone, but diverse societies also bring different beliefs and expectations. The challenge for many countries today is finding the balance between respecting cultural differences and maintaining common rules that apply equally to all. When people move to a new country, should public rules stay the same for everyone, or should communities make accommodations even when this accomodation infringe on rights?

The problem isn’t with allowing the homeless to live in our public spaces, the problem is they are allowed to do whatever they want within that space. If anybody reading this who is not homeless, did the identical thing in a public space they would he fined and/or arrested.

Joburg’s infrastructure has collapsed and its governance is in crisis. The Public Protector has a duty to investigate this with the same rigour she applies in cities that work. #BelieveInJoburg #Zille4Mayor

Those who actively work to remove public spaces are the villains of a city. Make no mistake—they work on behalf of the few and abandon the people.

This is the directness and moral clarity we’ve been desperate to see. The issue isn’t as complex as some make it out to be. Men are not women, and therefore, they should not occupy women’s spaces. Simple.

♦️HAPPENING NOW♦️ Officers are actively addressing criminal activity, enforcing by-laws, and reclaiming public spaces. The water cannon truck is deployed to support operations, and anyone caught urinating in public will be arrested for public indecency. Talk Less, More Action!

🚩 If Premier Lesufi wants to see Gauteng residents in safer spaces, he should not do that illegally; he is placing residents in more danger. Amapanyaza are not fit to prevent crime; they do not have adequate skills and resources. Watch the DA Gauteng Spokesperson for Community Safety, Michael Sun, table facts on this issue.

This woman that is filming this is 100% accurate. 🔥 We need to protect women's spaces esp in public places. It is at point where you feel like you need to stand guards if one of your children want to go in a public bathroom nowadays to make sure they are safe. Shame on this other woman that is more worried about virtue signaling than standing up for woman and woman's rights.

Work is currently ongoing along the Lagos-Badagry Expressway, where LAWMA officials are clearing massive piles of refuse dumped indiscriminately by some residents. This exercise is part of our renewed effort to restore sanity, ensure cleaner highways, and protect public health. Dumping refuse on road verges, medians, and public spaces is unlawful and deeply irresponsible. Offenders will face the full weight of the law. A clean city is a shared responsibility. Let’s do better - for Lagos, for ourselves, and for the future we all hope to build. #CleanerLagos
