The steel plant alone will see an investment of ₹10,000 crore, raise the group's production capacity to 3.5 MTPA, and generate around 15,000 direct and indirect jobs. Once commissioned, it is expected to be one of the biggest steel plants in East India. The group will invest another ₹5,000 crore in defence manufacturing, industrial townships, fabrication, paints, industrial coatings, infrastructure, construction chemicals, engineering and other emerging sectors, creating 5,000 additional jobs. Together, the projects are expected to generate 20,000 employment opportunities. Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari will visit Bankura later today to lay the foundation stone for the projects.

The Bengaluru city police in a joint operation with Puducherry police arrested techie J Kenneth, accused of murdering the parents and sister of his girlfriend Shwetha. Kenneth was spotted by Puducherry police when he was drinking at a wine shop, and on seeing the cops, Kenneth started running. Chasing him for over 200 meters, ASI Ramalingam from Puducherry police department, succeeded in nabbing Kenneth. However, Ramalingam and few other cops were injured as Kenneth assaulted them. From the same place, cops had arrested Shwetha two days back. Both had fled the city after stabbing Shwetha's parents and sister Supriya to death inside the flat of an apartment in Seegehalli, KR Puram. Shwetha is in seven-day-police custody. Police will produce Kenneth before the judge at latter's home-office in National Games Village, Koramangala by evening. The victims were identified as Somasundar (52), his wife Muthulakshmi (48), and their 19-year-old daughter Supriya. According to police, the accused allegedly carried out the murders following a dispute that escalated over financial issues linked to Shwetha's unpaid bank loans, which had reportedly crossed Rs 30 lakh. Investigators believe the financial burden, along with the couple's strained circumstances, played a key role in the incident. Police said Shwetha and Kenneth, both engineering graduates and former classmates, had been in a live-in relationship for over a year, which they had kept hidden from their families. The relationship came under strain after bank recovery notices related to Shwetha's loans began reaching her family's residence in Marathahalli. In the days leading up to the incident, Shwetha's mother reportedly visited the couple's apartment after receiving the notices, followed by her father and younger sister. Police said an argument broke out over the loan issue, which soon escalated into violence inside the apartment. Neighbours reported hearing screams around 10 pm on the night of the incident, after which Somasundar was found bleeding on the staircase. Following the killings, Shwetha allegedly fled the scene, prompting a massive manhunt that led to her arrest earlier. Kenneth's arrest in Puducherry marks another major development in the ongoing investigation. Police are continuing to reconstruct the sequence of events and determine the exact role played by each accused in the triple murder case.

Yes, this is a National Highway. While heading towards Mumbai, it took us two hours to travel four kilometres between Royal Garden Resort and Fountain Hotel on NH48. On a Tuesday evening. With no religious festivals, no accidents, no extraordinary rains, nothing. This is simply the state of the highway and traffic every day. In the financial capital of the country. The road doesn't have potholes. The potholes have a road. Chandrayaan-3 will have a more stable landing on the moon than cars have on this patch. It is the same thing, every after year, for decades. Anyone who travels through this patch knows the nuisance that it causes everyone. The infamous Fountain Hotel - where you lose 2 hours of your life that you can never get back. Dear Nitin Gadkari ji, I appreciate your work. Once you are done attending conclaves, I request you to travel on this highway with your officers on any day of the week, at any time you choose, and just experience the torture that ordinary people go through on a daily basis. Is this what Mumbaikars deserve?
