Pull up. At 37,000 feet. That’s the warning... . Terrain ahead. Pull up. There’s no mountain up there. Just cruise. This has been going on more than a year. Plane comes in. GPS 1 fault. GPS 2 fault. ADS-B also. Sometimes the other 1 and 2 faults with it.... show more

Cruising at FL360 over the Congo forest in the DRC and got the exact same thing on a 737-800—hard EGPWS warnings ("TERRAIN, PULL UP") triggered by spoofed position data. Fortunately, @Boeing recently published the “GPS Data Unreliable checklist ”to help crew recognize ,manage such issues and transition safely to IRS and conventional radio navigation if required. Stay sharp out there! ✈️ #AvGeek #Boeing737 #PilotLife #Aviation #FlightSafety #GPSSpoofing

You’re lucky. Mine kept yelling, “Eject! Eject! Eject!”

This happened over cartel controlled territories in northwest Mexico for almost a year. Even MMCL ATIS makes mention of it for their RNP approach

Bro flexing like there isn’t a 5 page FCOM procedure to follow to wipe their overpaid ass.

Last month leaving Germany for Hong Kong we got spoofed over Bucharest. Lost both left and right gps, and never got them back. ANP never exceeded RNP. Just let ATC know and the company. Wrote it up in hkg.

How isn't air pressure enough to know that there are no mountains?

Not good

What if flying on night where there is no visibility

Classic. The box is doing exactly what it was told. EGPWS trusts the GPS position, the GPS lies, so it shouts terrain at FL370. I reset it, sign it, and wait for the next one. LRU comes back clean.

Very weird. As there is no RAD ALT signal (both PFD show STD below ALT Tape), how can the little plastic man shout 'Terrain-Terrain-Terrain' ?? Position is still valid, because the FMS should normally use DME/DME.

How long do the warnings last?

Usually just while you’re flying through the interference pocket ...anything from a couple of minutes to 10–15 depending on how wide the jamming area is and your groundspeed. Once you’re clear of it the GPS normally comes back after a reset, though the EGPWS can sometimes hang onto the junk data a bit longer and keep chirping until you cycle the box.

Fly safe 🙏🏾 GPS spoofing is a serious issue.

Only on Airbus or Boeings also?

Crossing Everest.

I had a similar thing in cruise but it was caused by one of the radalts getting water underneath the bonding. When we had flown through precipitation and then levelled off, ice crystals would push the antenna away from the skin, setting off the pull up. Most annoying.

Typical to a specific manufacturer or same issue on other aircraft?

Wtf ….at 37k feet up

It's the sky islands 😔

Does this mess up with autopilot or it continues flying straight?

Thanks for posting the visuals with this. Very informative.
